Getting the dress to fl

I have seen a few posts on this topic, but I wanted to let everyone know what I am doing with my dress.
I bought my dress at Brides by Demetrios. Where I live in NJ, the store is inside a mall. This was totally their idea...
There is a Brides by Demetrios in Orlando so they are shipping my dress along with 3 of my bridesmaids' dresses (free of charge) to the Orlando store.
The Orlando store is then going to Press and steam the dresses at no extra charge.
I couldn't be more excited about this!!!
So if I were thinking about shipping the dress, look and see if they can ship it to a bridal store near WDW and then all you have to do is pick it up!

It can't hurt to ask!

Wow, this is a really great idea, but I just have a few questions that may seem silly. This is after all the alterations have been made (if needed), and they were still able to ship it? My dress has been hanging in my closet and I go in for alterations in July, and would love to look into this a bit further. I am so worried about taking a dress through an airport. With my luck, they'll probably have a drug dog attack it or something and I'll get to Florida with a shredded, lace bed sheet-looking thing! Lol!

Yes, I had 3 fittings and they are shipping it this Tuesday for our 4/4/13 wedding.

My store is a mom and pop store that has mostly designer brands. For those of you in this situation my store advised you buy your own steamer and take the dress carry on. When you get to the hotel let the dress out immediately and steam. Since we wont be renting a car I think this will actually work out better for us.

Since I was paying Carolyn Allen to steam my dress for me anyway, I took advantage of a service they offer that lets you ship the dress to them, and then they deliver it to your hotel the morning of the wedding and steam it for you there.

After the wedding they picked it up with the tuxes we'd rented from them and shipped the dress back to my house for me. Totally worth the cost.

Has any past brides shipped their dress to their hotel? I also bought by dress from a local shop, living in Seattle I don't really want to carry it on the plane. We are getting married on the Disney Dream but will be at Disney a few days before, and the steaming of the dress will be done on the cruise.

I shipped my dress to Aulani following the same guidelines I've used to ship tons of other stuff to WDW over the years and had no problems (in Hawaii or in Florida). Just be sure to put "Hold for Guest (Your Name)" and your check-in date (but NOT your confirmation number) on the address label.

If your resort has a convention center, the Ikon business center there will charge you a fee to accept your package, whether you have it delivered to your room or go pick it up. Fees are based on package weight: $3 for up to 4 lbs, $5 for 5-20 lbs, and $10 for 21-70 lbs.
