I am wondering where you go, who you call what you do to get the best price/extras when it comes to DVC points. I am wondering if you get better point rates actually at the vacation club bargining with the onsite sales people verus calling DVC. All input is welcomed.

I wrote you back on the SSR thread and I PMed you about DVC practice. No, they don't have different incentives for those of us who phone in and those of us who go to the DVC office.

I PMed you about the F&F....did you get it on your purchase? If not it might not be too late.

I am currently buying 120 points add on for 83.3 bucks a point through DVC. I get the 2005 pts also. so 9,996 bucks. My co worker has like 350 pts. he was telling me that on the DVC cruise they offered members low prices and threw in vacations. 7 days at a DVC resort.

The 83.30 is the best promotion discount in a very long time. It is a 15% discount off of the $98 per point price. The promotion ends Febraury 1. You will need a referal to get the price. Feel free to email me or any other DVC member for information to get the lower price. If you wait the price will go up but they maybe announcing the next DVC in 2006 or 2007 so some poeple are waiting to see if it might be a monorail resort add on.

I did not need a referal. I just called up and said I heard of a deal going on and she told me what it was and I said i'll take it.

DVC has different sales promotions through the year. Tickets, bonus points, discounts (if you give up current year's points), "free" vacations, have all been offered in the past but they are across the board and open to the public at the same time (presales maybe offered to current members) and once the promotion is over, it's over.

Pricewise, it seems that the current 15% off is one of the most generous promotional incentives ever and you won't have to give back or sell back your current year's points to get it. The promotion ends 2/1/06, I think.

If you are asking if there are any "hidden" discounts that you are unaware of that you can currently take advantage of, then no, there isn't.

DVC may offer "free" vacations, tickets, bonus points, or even discounts after this current promotion but keep in mind that the price per point is steadily raising so you may wait for a "better" promotion but wind up paying more.

Good luck with your decision.

I was on the DVC cruise in Sept 2005 and we seriously considered adding on because they were offering a week at Hong Kong DL and a special DVC Mickey Crystal piece by Arribas.

I can also tell you, that I would have been highly upset had I taken that offer and a few weeks later they offer the F&F plan which is a much better deal.

That offer was only good on the cruise, but I have added on 12 times over the last 3 years and can tell you, the 15% off, 2005 points for 83.30 is one of the best deals that DVC has offered on a current resort.

The only deal that may have been close, was the 2 free WDW AP's they offered last spring. You still received 2 sets of points (depending on UY) and the discount (-5,8 depending on how many points added).

$83.30 is an excellent price in todays market unless you are interested in Vero or Hilton Head. Check the resale sites and you will see that most resales will cost as much (after closing costs and possible maintenance fees) and then many of those will not give you 2005 points or worst yet, 2006 either.

Oh, another thing, if it helps.

I took advantage of a promotion in April of 2005 of 100 BONUS points for adding on at least 120 points at SSR with no dues on the add-on for 2005 and $5 off per point.

It was an AWESOME promo in my mind (they always get you) and way better than the free tickets since I usually have that taken care of already. And I still paid $90 per point after the discount which is more than what you would be paying about 9 months and a $3 price raise later.

You can make your own calculations.

Normally, while new promotions may "beat" old promotions, they are usually after price increases and the buy in price is ultimately still higher with the 2nd promotion. I think that the 15% was an exception.

That's my take, FWIW.

I still think that one of the main reasons for the 15% promo was to boost sales of SSR so they could prepare to announce the next DVC (whereever it may be).

I tend to agree. They also need to keep raising the price per point so that when the official announcement is made the buy in price is much higher especially if the new DVC is where it is rumored to be.

When sales to the new DVC is available they will have generous incentives for SSR so that they can sell new DVC for hypothetically $115/point and SSR for $115/point minus an incentive discount of $20 off per point. Because as you know, the price per point has to remain the same for all DVC resorts but they can do different promotions for the individual resorts to "even out" the sales demand.

WOW LIFERBABE!! 12 add-ons in 3 years? Is that a record or is addonitis a more prevalent condition than I previously thought? 4 add ons a year average? Most folks probably won't do 4 add ons per lifetime, good for you!! :goodvibes
