I'm sure this has been asked and asked...but what is the quickest and best way to get my Annual Pass....I was going to order it online. I think I will be going to MGM in the late afternoon when I arrive....how do I deal with getting my voucher turned into a pass?...does it take long....what do I have to expect? TIA.

You just go to the ticket window or guest relations and it does not take too long, as long as there is no line!! You should be fine in the afternoon!!

If you have access to a Disney Store, many of them sell AP's. They also have the MYW tickets. Then you don't have to wait for the mail to come ;)

I thought I read you couldn't buy them at DS anymore? :confused3

Better call 1st.

Michele

Yes, please call first! We have 3 DS's in the Atlanta area and two sell the passes and tickets (not sure why the other one doesn't :confused3 )

We just purchased ours at the Guest Relations window. I didn't see the point of ordering it ahead of time since I'd have to exchange the voucher anyway. Worked out good, we didn't have to wait in line. That's always good.

Our DS said they don't sell them anymore. That's where we went to get them at first. :sad2:

Our Disney Store doesn't sell annual passes either, though they do sell the MYW tickets. I'd be surprised if any of the stores sell them, I thought that was one of the things that happened with the stores changing ownership.

'tis true.

The only advantage to buying them ahead of time is to have part of the trip prepaid; another vice that brings into play is having to make sure you don't loose your unactivated voucher before you get to the booth.

My last AP I didn't buy at the Disney Store, only because I wanted to pay off a siginifigant portion of my trip. However, as you pointed out, it saved me zero time, since I still had to go to a ticket booth to activate it. Since the OP is going in the afternoon, it should be walk-up and there should be no issue.

One advantage of ordering it early is if you want to get the DDE. You must have a pass or voucher to order your card.

We just bought AP's at the Guest Relations office in Downtown Disney -- no wait, walked right up, they were activated, and away we went. When we passed by the guest realtions window at Epcot a half hour later, on the way into the park, the line at the guest relations window there was about 40 long. So the Downtown location is a good bet.

The DDE ticket does not have to be bought in advance to use during your first stay. We called after we got the AP's, read the AP info to the CM, and she faxed a letter to the hotel that worked great for all of our Disney meals. We saved the cost of the DDE in about three days!

One thing to be aware of is that the DDE office is closed on the weekend so if you are arriving any time after 5pm on Friday evening, you would have to wait until Monday morning to call the DDE office, place your order and get the fax sent to your hotel.
