I am wondering if anyone can confirm something for me...

I booked a Disney trip through Liberty Travel for April (I know, week after Easter I must be bonkers!). We decided to stay off site and purchased our park tickets through the TA, as well. I have been trying since we made the rez (and paid in full) to get our Disney confirmation number so I can link with MDE and be ready for 30 days out to make FP picks, without luck.

First, my agent fell off the face of the earth (con incidentally after I paid in full) but I gave him a few days...and then called the office to see if someone could get the number for me. They couldn't help. So, I called Disney to see what they could do and they told me oh don't worry we work with LT all the time, they will be able to grab the confirm for you and just give is a ring back and we can help you link. So...I finally say to the TA I need my confirm number (I'm getting antsy) TODAY. He comes back to me saying:

"Disney has a new system with tickets for clients not staying at a Disney hotel that is detailed below in their response to me, Please see below!

" the confirmation number will not be populated into the booking until on or around March 7th. (30 days out) Once the confirmation number is generated for the OFF-tickets new documents will be reissued to you for you to give the clients that will show the confirmation number for the passes. It’s at that point that they will be able to link up the tickets.""

...this doesn't seem right to me? "On or about March 7"??? That means we could get them after the 7th and miss the good FP? That doesn't sound like Disney. They seem like they are pretty fair with respect to off property guests booking through third parties. I could understand not getting the confirm number until 45 days out, for example. But, I don't think they would make us wait until the day we could book FP...am I believing in too much pixie dust and just being naive?

Can anyone confirm if this is really the new policy? The CM I spoke with yesterday made no mention of this new system...
 
I don't have tickets :( what started this all was that the TA told me originally I'd have to pick them up at will call--which the CM said wasn't necessary and I could still do FP and the TA should have a confirmation number associated with my tickets...
 

You're staying off site correct? My understanding is even if you have the tickets you can't make fp+ selections until 30 days out. On site guests can make them at 60 days.
As to when you get the ticket numbers I would call back and speak to a supervisor.

I'm also I'm confused about a Disney confirmation number. You don't get a confirmation except the ticket numbers
 
They should be able to give you the ticket numbers. I agree that it probably would be best to call again.
 
Yes, I'm staying off site & I know we can't make FP selections until 30 days out, but what concerns me is the insinuation from the TA we could get a confirm AFTER 30 days out, limiting the FPs available to us.

I Just sent the TA a final email asking why if I paid in full for my ticket that I can't get a confirmation number...hopefully he responds with it or else I'm calling again. Ugh...
 
Oh that is frustrating. I don't think your TA is accurate, if they paid WDW for the tickets already why wouldn't they have the numbers needed to add your tickets to MDE? Is your TA booking your FP+ for you?
 
Gracie, I was confused on that, too! The CM i spoke to kept calling it a confirm instead of a ticket number, so I thought that's what it was lol
 
Nope, they just booked the hotel & tickets for us...I wanted the control (which is obvious with how crazy I'm going without it right now). All I want is to know I can get up and make my FP 30 days out!
 
Well that stinks. If you bought the tickets yourself they'd already be in MDE. Seems wrong the TA can't get this information for your right away.
 
Some of this may be a simple matter of terminology. Here on DIS we tend to call them Reservation numbers, Confirmation Numbers, and ticket numbers. They appear to be calling it confirmation numbers which because it is a "package" coming from a TA that the TA Confirmation contains ALL of the numbers in one packet.

But I agree, I would call and tell the Travel Agency that waiting until anything later than March 6 is unacceptable since you are eligible to begin booking FP at 12:01am on March 7. Ask them to either provide you with the numbers required to put your tickets in MDE, or a refund.

You can't book with a TA and have control of your reservation. However, I would be insistent with the TA that you want your ticket numbers, because regardless of what they control for the hotel, they do not control your tickets. Have you paid LT in full?
 
This is really confusing. If Liberty Travel selected Will Call as your ticket delivery method, all you need is the WILL CALL number to link the tickets. You don't need actual ticket numbers. If you paid in full and the LT agent purchased the tickets already, they should have a WILL CALL number on the confirmation document. If they have not purchased the tickets yet and don't have a will call number, I would ask for a refund and purchase the tickets yourself! You can choose "will call" when you purchase, immediately get your confirmation document and go right into MDE to link the tickets using the will call number.
 
Have you gotten any confirmation from the hotel that you are actually booked? The travel agency sounds either incredibly incompetent or unethical. When you paid for the tickets, they should have been immediately purchased and a will call or ticket number obtained. That doesn't wait until 30 days before your trip. If you are not staying on Disney property, how do they even know or care when your trip is?! They are just tickets. When I bought tickets through Orbitz it took 4 days to get the Will Call numbers.

i know the hotel is aware i am coming because i called them to add on my rewards number to the reservation (thank goodness lol). i'm glad to know i'm not crazy and this is definitely NOT how things work....unfortunately, i am the kind of person who gives the benefit of the doubt so i am giving him a chance to make things right before i call their headquarters and either demand the numbers or a full refund. thanks to everyone for their advice and reassurance this isn't just me being crazy!

You don't control the reservation, the TA owns it. Not you. Disney shouldn't even be talking to you about it, since the TA owns the reservation.
 
That is true of the hotel reservation. Their hotel reservation is not at a Disney resort so I don't know what that particular hotel does. But I can't see any reason why the travel agent is unable to provide the client with the will call numbers for the tickets unless he hasn't actually been able to purchase the tickets yet. Why would Disney make some rule that ensures offsite guests purchasing tickets through travel agents do not have access to their 30 day fastpass booking?

What information did they provide for you to use to pick up the tickets at will-call? That should have the number you need to link the tickets.
 
I had the same issue last year when I booked through a TA, that's when I decide to go to Disney direct on all future vacations, not matter where I'm staying.
