this summer I got on one of my most favorite rides...carosel of progress...except now it has been tarnished...lol

we got stuck on the ride or should I say, we saw the same part over and over and over about 6 times before we moved on to the next part of the show...

apparently there was some kind of emergency... some folks were getting anxious and tried to leave out the exit door..but that just prolonded it even more...

boy that was a mess...next time I go it just wont be the same....

it would be like all the lights coming on in the haunted house or something...

I love this ride! I have had the same experience. Once someone opens the exit door the ride stops. If people continue to exit because they don't want to wait, then you have to wait even longer for the ride to start up again. Everybody just sit still and be patient

Last Oct. the ride got stuck once in the middle of the show, started over and got stuck again at the same place. Everyone was asked to exit and we were given a fastpass good for 1 ride.

I've sat through 2 of the same scene, never more.

We did get kicked out once...CM said it was because of the rain. I kind of doubted that.

A few years ago DH and I decided to ride COP before we left WDW for the airport to go back home. It was our last ride of the trip. Of course, it broke down, lasted 5 times longer than it should have, we were nervous wrecks that we would end up missing our plane because we would never get out of COP! That is the last time we rode it.

We were just on the COP last week--- someone in the front row stood up, which set off some motion detector. An automated announcement came on telling people to get off the stage and stay in their seats. Some ride operators came around asking if anyone had gotten up on the stage. I think they had to reset everything before the ride could continue moving, and then the theater movement was off from the show, which was very weird. I had never seen anyone "break" the COP before!

Sadly, the day before, someone "broke" the TTA as well! We were just about to get on, and the ride operator had to hit the emercency shut off button because someone jumped off the ride! I don't know where he ran off to. They were having trouble restarting the ride, so we left to go see the parade. When we came back to Tomorrowland afterwards, it looked like the TTA was still stopped!

Not rides I would expect to have problems with!

We were on the COP about four years ago and they stopped it for a really violent thunderstorm. They didn't want people exiting during the thunder and lightening so they "stopped" the ride. We sat through the same "show" about 8-10 times. We actually had a great time! When they started the song each time (a great big beautiful tomorrow), my BIL yelled out "everybody sing" and started to clap - and everyone did!!!! It's one of the best memories we have of COP - just too funny!! :lmao:

We got stuck a couple of years ago. It was that way for awhile, so this one guy a few rows up stood up to stretch and was on his way to sitting back down when a CM got on the microphone nearly screaming "DO NOT STAND UP ON THE RIDE...YOU MUST SIT DOWN FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!!!!!!!!!!" Several of us started cracking up at the absurdity of how much he overreacted. The thing wasn't moving at all. It's not like the guy was going to be decapitated or something.

We have also been stuck in one scene for about 5 repeats.

On about the 3rd repeat when the father has some line akin to "why, hello there!", i said out loud, "I don't know why he's surprised to see us, this is the 3rd time we've been thru here".

Everyone started to laugh.

I was a child - around about 1977 when my family got stuck in the COP. Like many of you we were forced to sit through the same scene over and over.
it must have been 5 times or so.
To this day, whenever someone in the family repeats something - or has a "did I say this already?" moment - my father will respond with " Well, I guess the robin's are back"

It sounds silly but it's one of those fond childhood memories that we all still laugh about. :)

Somebody opened the door when we were on it last year, and it got slightly 'off-track'. We still love it, I'm such a goober I even have "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" on my iPod! ;)

Maybe not so absurd! A CM was actually killed on COP, not sure whether it was WDW or Disneyland though, but they were stuck behind the revolving room and were crushed to death. I dare say Disney wouldn't want it happening to anyone else!!

It was at Disneyland.
This tragic event actually happened not during CoP, but when the attraction in the revolving theater was "America Sings".

CoP show had been removed in California and was sent to WDW.

America Sings was in the same theater that had shown CoP.

A CM host somehow tried to "jump" (or simply fell) between two adjacent theater "rooms" as the rotation between scenes was taking place.
That person was fatally injured as the solid walls came together.

Right after that terrible accident, both revolving theaters in DL and WDW were re-designed with "soft seals" that would not crush an unlucky person who happened to be in that wrong spot during the rotation.

Later, after DL closed "America Sings" and moved all of its animatronic characters over to a new attraction called "Splash Mountain" (!), the rotation of the theater was "locked" stationary and is now home to "Innoventions" at the California park.

On our trip last October, that seemed to happen at least once a day in each park. VERY frustrating. We waited forever it seemed to get onto BTW at MK. Then they announced it broke down and we had to leave basically. On our way out (total nightmare with 200,000 people trying to get out it seemed), we could see the ride broken down on it's way up and they were unloading the people stuck on the ride.

This also happened at POTC... we were stuck in one scene for 25 minutes. My favorite ride! But the song started to make me crazy after a few minutes!

At AK it shut down Primevel Whirl and ITTBAB. At Epcot it shut down SE and the Norway ride.

VERY frustrating! :furious: We moved on to the next ride when this happened but I couldn't believe how often it happened throughout the week. Oh I forgot to mention it happened at Splash Mountain a few times that week too.

Yes it happened to us in the spring. I was with another DISer, flyingpegasus, and we stayed for 2 playings, then like everyone else, we exited the ride on our own. It was mass chaos.

During our trip back in 2002 the COP didn't just break down it moved backwards!! Gave a whole new spin on this favorite. This is still of my favorites though and I look forward to it each time we visit.

One of my absolute favorites. I've never been on it when it broke down and hoping I won't.

But I was on Big Thunder Mountain ... on the biggest hill (on the way up of course) when it stopped. We were stuck there for about 30 minutes. When we got back to the platform, they let us all go again without getting off (except those that wanted OFF of that thing ;) ) despite the long lines that had built, since the experience of the ride was interrupted.

The CM that came up to the traincars on the hill told us that there was a delay getting someone off which made a car late leaving the platform. It put the 4 cars on the track out of sync, so the computer shut all four cars down (it is a safety measure to prevent the multiple cars on the ride from getting too close together). I didn't mind a bit - I actually felt comforted by knowing about that extra safety measure.
