Getting stuck on a ride post

We got stuck on The great Movie Ride for almost an hour. We were right next to Tarzan.
They didn't stop his yelling for almost 45 minutes.

Almost exactly the same happened to me....

Except I was in It's a Small World.
Oh the horror....the horror!

I got stuck on IJATD right at the part where the snake attacks the vehicle. We sat there for about 20 min as they tried to restart the attraction, then all the lights came on and they said an CM will be by to escort everyone off the ride. It took another 10 min before the CM got to us, they had to unload each vehicle before they got to us (one at a time) and created a single file line of guest. We got to walk the rest of the ride follwing the CM as they unloaded the rest of the guest from the vehicles along the way.

Not to spoil the Disney magic for some but it was really neat to see how unimpressive the attraction is with all the lights turned on. Along the way we saw wall lockers, bags of trash and equipment that you never see when the ride is working. Disney is great at illusion because I would have never known all that was there if the attraction didn't break down. Now when I go on a ride I try to look for things on an attraction that are not supposed to be seen but I can never see anything.

I have been on other attractions that have broken down but nothing worth mentioning as that.

Am I an idiot? What's IJATD?

I got stuck twice on the same trip on Splash Mountain! Never had to be evacuated but got stuck. The trip was with my family and it was EMH at MK so it was about 1am when we were on the ride. It got stuck on the part with Brair Rabbit and he says "if you ask me he's looking for trouble". OMG we must had heard it about 30 times. After that time it is a big joke in our house. I think the fact that it was 1 am and we were exhausted too did not help, we just laughed and laughed. After the first few times the whole boat was saying it with the anamatronic rabbit. THEN the 2nd time was the same trip and my dad and I were at EMH at MK again and we were at the top of the hill and we stopped. They had to refill the bottom pool, too much water came out with the boat before us and they had to wait to do that. At least it was after the brair rabbit saying again. All we could do was laugh that we got stuck on the same ride twice!

OMG. Why, why, why did I read this?!!!! :scared: I have never been stuck on anything (okay, space ranger spin stopped for like 3 minutes or something once -- hardly call that "stuck")
Being evacuated is NOT on my bucket list. It is on my list of anxieties about rides -- along with: falling out of and throwing up on:crazy2:.
I apologize in advance to anyone who is ever stuck inside any kind of enclosed ride with me (or my children who would be trying to find a way out) if we get stuck for an extended period of time. I seriously can't believe how many times people have had to be evacuated.

I still rather get stuck inside a ride then a crowded monorail, that would freak me out. I don't even take the monorail anymore after reading about people getting stuck in it for 2 hours.

I agree. Stuck once for around 10-15 minutes and will never ride again. At least on a ride I can imagine that I can somehow find an escape route. Locked tube suspended in the air? Nope. No. Way. Out. :scared:

evacuated from Splash Mtn.. common theme..
got all day FP...
also got stuck on the People Mover for so long (~45min) we got all day FPs from that as well.

Both occurred during the same trip..

Sometimes I go insane whenever Peter Pan's Flight stops....is it going to fall?! Something that really scared me was when an evacuation happened..while I was in the line for PPF. I smelled smoke, people were being let out of the line, they turned on the lights and it seemed like the CMs were panicking....wonder what happened.

We were stopped on Buz multiple times on our last trip, for longer than what would be a guest mobility issue, I imagine. My DH and DS were stuck in Pirates for 30 minutes during MVMCP because some fool stood up on the boat. The were NOT happy campers.

We have been stuck or evacuated quite a few times too. It seems to happen more and more every time we visit, which is only 1 week per year. Before the POTC remodel, i was stuck on that for quite a while, right at the area where there is a crab on the beach. Dead Men Tell No Tales kept blaring over and over. Finally, music off and lights on, a CM came walking out onto the set. It was pretty funny. Luckily, DM had taken my young boys to the room to nap, bc my anxiety would have spiked if they were stuck too. I think we finally got going in the boats.

Stuck maybe 10 minutes in HM next to screaming pop up head. children were young and they have never been the same...

Stuck in SM so long that they turned the lights on and yes it is strange to see the old wooden track in the Space Age. I think we finally rode to the end slowly, with the lights on.

Stuck on Peter Pan and they had to turn the lights on. This one was fun bc it was not anxiety inducing. We were flying high over the city, but when the lights came on we were actually just barely off the ground at all! Very impressive visual effects!

Not fun to be stuck on Splash, right under the buzzards at the bottom of the final steep climb to the drop. Long wait, finally had to be manually unlocked by the CMs and walked out backstage. Very stressful bc one son (12) had chosen not to ride and was waiting on the bridge alone for a loooong time. Backstage was interesting though. Dh's company at the time makes industrial motors, and there was a big motor with their name emblazened back there. (I told DH it better not have been the motor failing...)

The strangest was once in the American Adventure show. All was fine. Suddenly, show stopped, lights on, immediate annoucement to head to exits. That frightened me. Come to find out that that same afternoon, HoP and Space and I think EE all suddenly closed and stayed closed as well...?

Have been stuck on monorail for 20 minutes or so. VERY nerve wracking. DM was stuck on there for almost an hour once And I didnt know where she was ANd there was no cell service. She was NOT happy after that.

I can remember two times.

Once was IASW during our first trip. I can't remember how long, but the ride itself is long enough for the song to get stuck in your head. I wanted to paddled the boat out, but that would be unsafe. I haven't gotten on it since.

The other was on ToT. We had finished the series of drops and the car was going backwards to lock in and turn to the exit door. Well, it started to go backwards, but stopped. We waited around a half hour and the CMs had to manually push the car into the locking mechanism and spin us. Our son didn't get on with us, so he didn't know what happen to us and there is no cell reception inside the Tower. And the seatbelts stayed buckled the whole time. We got FPs for anything, but the best part was walking thru the inside of the ride.

I still remember reading on here (the dis) about a monorail that got stuck for over 2 hours last year. There was pictures of men taking the windows out to get some air into it. Sorry, but to me the whole monorail seems dangerous. What if someone needed medical help? It would take forever. No way to get out for a long time or if someone needed a bathroom immediately? I rather be on ground.

Splash Mountain just before you get to fall into the Laughing Place. DSis still hates the song and I clung to her sleeve not wanting to "break the magic".

At Disneyland we almost got evacuated from near the beginning of Grizzly Bear Rapids. We were fortunate enough to be under the 'mill' in the shade for a half hour wait while everyone else was out in the hot July sun. The tilt of the hill wasn't very fun but we were glad to be in the shade!

I'll take either of those experiences over getting stuck on the local Whacky Shack at the portion where the 'master' is cackling at you with large, swirling eyes. Happened once when I was little and took me forever to get back on again.

Last August we were stuck on the monorail with a full load of people but only for 15 minutes. We were apart of the people that were standing . With in those 15 minutes it became sweaty hot in there because the air was not running. Any longer and I would started get worried because of the heat, with the heat from all the bodies and no air it was really stuffy,

We got stuck on Pooh last year. Right in the heffalumps and woozles room. The lights came on and we walked through the rest of the ride. We were given fast passes good for all week, not for 7DMT. We used them for Peter Pan.

Splash Mountain at Disneyland, right at the top of the incline before the big drop. It took about 15 minutes for CMs to evacuate us. DH jokingly asked if they could just push the log over the edge, but they declined. They gave us an any ride, anytime FP. Since we had already used a FP to get on Splash, they gave us another.

Also at Disneyland, in the late 90s there was a short-lived ride called the Rocket Rods which used the elevated People Mover platforms. It was a notoriously unreliable ride, and we got stuck. They used a cherry picker to evacuate us. This was before FP and Calif Adv. A CM gave us a slip of paper and said go to Guest Relations. We thought we might receive a coupon for a free ice cream, or a discount on a meal, but lo and behold they gave us full tickets to return another day.

Almost every time I ride Haunted Mansion, it stops momentarily, usually just for 10 seconds or so. One ride it stopped 4 times!!! I know it's to load/unload disabled guests.

Rides at other parks which I remember being evacuated: Loch Ness Monster, Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The Runaway Train, Six Flags Over Texas. Congo Rapids river raft ride, Six Flags Great Adventure, NJ.

SO glad I read this. It had never occurred to me and I would lose my mind.

My DD and I have been evacuated from PotC (DL) & TT. Both took at least 45 minutes. It was in the fire scene at Pirates (like other poster, CM's wearing waders had to push boats to shore; EMT's were standing by (just in case???). Got to walk backstage & got 1 anything FP.

In (old) TT, my 11 y/o DD & her 10 y/o cousin & I had ridden single rider so we were separated. My DD got stuck in the 'freeze' room & they turned on the lights but didn't turn off the a/c. We finally met up on the walk out (all stayed calm & enjoyed having an adventure). Rcvd FP's for TT but not surprisingly it was down when we returned. Not sure how they evacuated the cars on the outside track!
