We have cruised on the Magic before and are again in August. From reading this board I have seen that you can have something signed? Can you explain to me (in dummy terms) how this works? What I take? Pens? Who I give it to? Or how I ask them to do it? Also, is there a particular treat/gift I could give for those doing it? Is it usually all the characters? And what would you suggest we get signed for a 6 year old girl?

On the 2nd last night of the cruise, you can drop stuff off at the concierge desk with specific autograph requests. I did this with my daughter's autograph book because she always seemed to forget it whenever she met Donald. I didn't provide a pen, but others want things signed in specific ink / colors and provide them in a zip lock bag.

What can be signed? Just about anything, but don't tell my daughter - we have enough issues with just an autograph book. ;-)

I haven't sailed concierge, but have had a pillowcase signed for DD. :cutie: I picked out a Tinkerbell pillowcase from a store at home, brought it in a Ziplock with some Fabric Markers, and brought it to Guest Services on the night of embarkation. They gave me a slip to fill out where I checkmarked the names of the characters I wanted to autograph the pillowcase. I included a variety pack of markers so the autographs would be assorted colors.

Others have also posted dropping off the mats from their photo frames (pencil an outline on the mat so the autographs don't get hidden once its in the frame), or other collectibles that they wanted autographed.

The pillowcase and markers were returned to my cabin on the last day of our cruise, some time before dinner.

Oh, and yes, I included a bag of kisses when I brought it to guest services! :thumbsup2

We have left a large (Mickey) Vinylmation, a photo mat, and a Winnie the Pooh (glass) plate at Guest Services. I put each in a large baggie with black or colored sharpies. You can choose to have them signed by the characters, the princesses, or everyone. We chose everyone. We also left a bag of chocolates in each baggie. There is a maximum of 2 items per cabin unless you have more than 2 children in the cabin. They get so many requests so it's best to leave your items the first of second night of a 7 night cruise or the first night of a shorter cruise. Our items were returned a couple of days before the cruise ended (on 7 and 8 day cruises).

Ok so I understand 2 items per room, we have 2 rooms so no problem there. We are wanting to get 4 vinylmations signed one for each kid and one for mom and dad. Should I get a set of colored markers for each vinylmation or will one set be enough for all 4 vinylmations. I plan on giving a good size treat for this. Does anyone know if there is suggested treats?

DCL put a limit on two items per stateroom, except if there are more kids, then they adjust accordingly.

Drop off at guest services ideally on the first night.

You need to supply the following:

* Item to be signed with any specific instructions (vertical/horizontal for photo mat)
* Indicate which character(s) you want (Fab 4, Princesses, all that fit, etc)
* Markers to be used (Sharpie in the colors you want them to use)
* Treats for the characters (candy, chocolate, etc)
* Put everything on a big ziplock bag and put your name and stateroom number

Regarding what type of treats, I'd say your typical Halloween treats should do. But I'd splurge for the good stuff - ie not dollar store quality, but brand names (Hershey, M&M, Snickers, etc).

In terms of what to use, anything that can be signed. Photo mats, sheet covers, vinyl nation, etc. Just make sure you get the appropriate permanent markers for it.

We just got back. I bought 2 photo frame mats in white, some coloured sharpies, wrote our stateroom number on everything, zipped them into a giant ziploc bag and threw in a bunch of chocolates you can only get in Canada as a treat & thank you! Dropped it at the front desk and it was returned to us on our last night when they turned the bed down. They autographed one photo frame with princesses signatures and one with the other characters. :)

We also took an autograph book to all character meet & greets!

Yes, you will need separate marker sets for each item. You can just include one or many markers per item. If you include more than one marker they will use all the colors. Just be sure to try out the colored markers first on a like color/object! We did this with our markers we took and left some at home that didn't show up well.

How many signatures do you think will be signed? I'm trying to figure out how big of mat to buy. Thanks.

I'll be having a paint your own tea set signed. I'll paint one character on each plate and cup then get them to sign them with ceramic paint markers :-)

What an adorable idea! My understanding though is that you can only get 2 items signed per stateroom (or more if there are additional kids). I don't know if a whole "set" would count as one item - I would think each plate/cup would be considered multiple items. But maybe someone who has done something similar can chime in. I would hate for you to do all that work, pack them up, and then be disappointed :(

On our last cruise on the Magic in April, we were given the choice of fab 5 or princesses. I asked about all since we did that the year before and was told no. One girl wanted princesses and the other fab5 so we did end up with all since both boxes were checked. Just a suggestion if you're told no. We put everything in one bag and give it to guest services when we board. We did pillowcases on the last cruise, and vinylmation before that.

We have never included markers. The signatures still get signed

on our first cruise we took a pillowcase and non erasable markers. We dropped it off at the help desk on our second night and had it back by the time we left. it's a great memory for the little ones
