I was at the park on June 22 we were in row 5 and I had the last seat, when we got to the boat house, the barrel that falls over and usually gives you a sprinkle, gave me a soaking!
It was early morning and it took till about 4:00 to dry out.

I called Guest services to let them know about their new water ride, they were surprised to hear it.

I also rode it later in the day and it did the same thing to the guy sitting there, he was really surprised also.

So anyone else who doesn't like to get soaked, stay out of that seat.

We had this same issue back in early May, and my hubby was sitting in row 5 or 6 (don't remember off the top of my head). He was as drenched as you were; a complete and utter soaking. A little over the top, IMHO.

I was a bit worried, as I had sat next to him and was wearing white shorts and undies. I never would have worn them on any type of water ride, but I figured Jaws was innocuous enough, and I didn't have to worry. Wrong. Spent the rest of the day making sure my shirt was pulled down far enough so as not to upset any youngsters and give them a show that would scar them for life. ;)

From what I understand, this is intentional, and anyone from row 4/5 on and sitting on the starboard side of the boat risks getting wet. I'm sure phamton knows more of the details.

Nonetheless, hubby was that wet that he wouldn't ride Jaws for the rest of our trip.

That seems to be a new part of the ride. We saw it as well. We just made sure we avoided that seat.

Correct me if I'm wrong....but doesnt it have signs all over that you may get wet possibly soaked? Silly me, but I would take that as an indication that its possible to get wet....I dont know, call me crazy.:goodvibes

I don't know about wet but I almost got steamed the last time we rode.I was in a seat that was up against the dock where the shark bites the power line and steam was coming up between the dock and the boat and it was quite hot.

I have gone on this ride the last couple of years and people might have got a springle not completly soaked.
It doesn't make any sense to have one person get drenched on a ride.

Last time we went, I purposely sat on the end so that I would get soaked because it felt nice in the Florida heat :goodvibes Yes, there are signs and I think that is fair warning. People can always request to sit further inside the boat and not on the ends. And if they don't believe they will get wet or request to be on the inside, well then, I guess they will learn better for next time :rolleyes1

Last time, my father sat in the row in front of me on the end and the skipper actually told him he was going to get soaked. As we were just leaving the dock, the skipper said something like "....and if you're a man wearing a white shirt, shiny sunglasses, and sitting in row __, you're gonna get soaked" :lmao: :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: not laughing that you were almost hurt, but the way you worded steamed did make me chuckle.

We were there the last week of June...always asked the TM for the 'front of the boat'...sometimes we had to wait a few extra minutes, but worth it. I agree, the "hot" part is hot (and i like it hot!) and the look on the poor person's face in the last rows is hilarious! Altho, the times we rode it, the people got wet, but I didn't see anyone as wet as Mike was :confused3

It's intentional. The chum barrel was added when they recently refurbished* the ride a few months ago. Anyone from row 5-7 on the right side of the boat may get drenched.

*The last refurbishment was Jan. 31-Feb. 14. When they opened up on Feb. 15th, the chumbarrel was a new addition.

It say's that on JP.

I haven't posted in a long time since our vacation 6/28-7/05, but I'm back for some more action:banana:

we were also very surprised when this happened to us on our first day at US. My son actually liked! And it also seemed as though, when he shoots the grenade launcher at the very beginning, you get soaked as well. Very good addition:thumbsup2

I am told the standby line for Popeye says: You WILL get wet, you MAY get soaked..... i think it should say: "there is NO possible way of staying dry on this ride....you will PROBABLY get soaked" :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I think I got wet just walking past Popeye

Jaws says: "You will get wet" not "You may get wet." I made a point to read the sign after the chum barrel was added.

Please play nice. There is no reason to attack the OP.

One person gets soaked the other 44 walk out wondering why that person is now soaked head to toe!

The sign should say "last person in row 5 will get drenched, all others might get a springle".

But then it wouldn't be a surprise.

:rotfl2:

I remember my first ride on Dudley. I sat behind my taller sons and didn't get wet a bit. I was bragging about it when suddenly I was shot with a water cannon. I ended up more wet than them.
