I am quite willing to run the DIS Unplugged Losers thread - if you want![]()
that sounds like a great idea, given that you already have experience from the UK board!

Is there any way we can get one of thesewith carrot sticks?
Corey? Will? Not that you both don't have enough to do with Pete being on vacation and having to edit the show and all.....
Add me to the list!
Whos in charge here?
I have volunteered to run the thread if everyone is happy.
Pete, I completely relate to how hard life changes are. About 10 years I lost 85 lbs on Weight Watchers. In the past 5 years, I have gained about 20 back but am still within a normal range for height. It was a big shock to my mind when I started WW because I never really understood how poor my eating habits were. Things that I never paid much attention to like the amount of butter I used on my bagel or how much soda I drank, suddenly became clear to me. At first I was terrified to go to restaurants because I thought I would just be able to get a salad. Eventually, I realized that most restaurants have some really healthy entree choices but I may have needed to ask for slight changes in preparation.
Now smoking, on the other hand, has been something I have not been able to get a handle on for 20 years! I have "quit" off and on for periods of time but I was always cheating.
Recently, I began to take Chantix. It is a prescription medication which I am usually not big on taking. However, I just couldn't take the isolation and embarrassment I felt being the only person who smoked anywhere I went. I was sick of having to rush right out of the airport the minute the plane landed in order to smoke that cigarette. I was tired of being contolled by a stick!
Anyway, I went on Chantix and it is amazing! For the first week you are on it, you still smoke. You begin to lose the desire to smoke the whole cigarette and you find yourself smoking less. One week into it, you quit completey or at least try to quit completely. The physical craving for a cigarette has been almost non-existent. Mostly, I am struggling with the habitual side of smoking. I know I am going to do it this time, though, because I haven't cheated once. Not a puff! That is a miracle for me.
Insanely, or maybe not insanely, I have been training for the Disney Half Marathon in January 09. I KNOW I won't run the whole thing, but I will jog parts of it. The carrot of this event dangled in front of me will keep me from smoking. Thank God that I am obsessed with Disney!
I'd love to join you guys in your weight loss efforts! Quitting smoking and losing weight would be a thrill!
They already have the WISH team over on the community board, so we need something snappy...
I'm just "spit'ballen" some idears...
