I am going back to Weight Watchers. Ideally I would like to lose 100 lbs before the cruise (that would get me to my goal weight), but I don't think I can do that before the cruise. I know the weight loss will slow down when I only have a few lbs to lose.

Any one want to join me?

Kim

I'll join you. I started doing Weight Watchers this past week with my best friend but I think I am gonna need a lot more support. (Dieting sucks!!! )

I will join you too. I need to lose about 50 pounds. I quit smoking and had a baby all at the ripe old age of 40 so I get the triple whammy of gaining weight. Now to get it off. It has been 3 years so I cant use the baby as an excuse anymore. Do you want to do weekly check ins or anything?

I'll Join you.

My goal is 35lbs.

I weigh to 230 as we speak.

There.

It is in writing now.

Anyone else?

We can all work at this together. Anyone else?

Kim

I'm not going on the Podcast cruise:sad1: , but I would like to lose at least 20 pounds before my Wonder cruise in Aug.! I rejoined WW online 2 weeks ago. So far so good!

So how is this going to work because I need major help!!!!!!

I was watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - it is really hard to remember that is Johnny Depp, he is just sooo quirky in this movie - and I HAD to have something chocolate. So, I made brownies. I am fine with just having one brownie and giving the rest away because, although I make REALLY good brownies, I don't love brownies. But it makes me so mad at myself for HAVING to have a brownie in the first place. UGHHHHH!!!! I try so hard to want to eat carrots when I want a snack but I am just really bad at fighting temptation. Help me!!!!!!

TO YOU ALL:

I am not going on the cruise :( BUT wanted to say go for it!!! I have been in WW for 1 yr. I also have my DD(14) in it. We are both down 20lbs!! :cool1: :woohoo: Now I also quit smoking so this is great for me. She is playing with 10 more to lose, me 5 to be at goal. I have been 1 lb away from goal- but that 5 just goes around and around LOL! We also BOTH do Curves. I am a big walker, so add that in too. Between all this, we are doing great. WW teaches you howand what to eat, it is no miracle, it is just a new way of life.
My hints are:

1. GO TO MEETINGS!!! Doing it Online just isn't as effective. Find a meeting that has a leader you enjoy amd people you enjoy. You might have to go to a few before you find the best one for you, but if you do---- you will be much more successful in your loss. :thumbsup2

2. weekly journal- write down EVERYTHING you eat in your weekly book. It makes ALL the difference.

3. If you have a bad choice or day, fine - so what, move on-start again.

4. after you join, the online tools are great. You can track your weight AND they have a forum for questions and support.

5. You have to really really stay focused- this means putting YOU first!!! You need to be able to KNOW and LIVE IT that your worth it!! Take the time for you and you will never regret it!

6. PLAN PLAN PLAN, you have to plan the food you will eat for the week. ALL meals. This makes shopping easy too. Don't have "bad" foods in your house. Bad foods are the ones you can't control yourself around.

Oh and my MIL dropped 70lbs in 1 yr! She was down about 50 in 8-9 mos, so you have time! Once you get going, you'll question why you waited so long!

So yes, go for it :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I wish you the best! If you have any questions, let me know, I am here for you or anyone that asks! :goodvibes

p.s. My DD did not want to join with me, so I went ahead. Once she saw it work for me- she WANTED in and now she is learning somethings I could of never taught her on my own. Maybe someone in your lives will benefit too.

Repeat after me..... "Not dieting but a new healthy way of life" "Not dieting but a new healthy way of life" "Not dieting but a new healthy way of life" "Not dieting but a new healthy way of life"

It really isn't a diet, you can eat ANYTHING you want! Just if you bite it write! ;)

CONGRAT on quitting smoking!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We, as humans DO NOT HAVE WILL POWER!! Don't beat yourself up over it, NONE of us have it! :)

I have a brownie recipe that is low points and just as good!!

My trick for eating the right things.... only have the right things in your house, don't have the bad stuff in the house!!! I know it sounds like ya ya, but trust me. I have no control either- my combat for my weakness- is it isn't there to go get! HA I WIN!! lol If I want some ice cream I have to go out and get it. One serving too.

It's funny - I was thinking about mentioning something about this on the show. I'm really needing to lose about 50 lbs myself and I'd really like to be there by the cruise. The doctor has really been riding me the last few months to start making some major life changes - but it's SO DAMN HARD!

I can completely relate to having zero will power. I fold like a cheap tent ever time I go out to eat (which is constantly since I won't cook for myself). Now that Walter is a 'gentleman of leisure' (he got laid off from work last week), he's insisting that the two of us must start going to the gym when we get back from California. I have to give him credit though, for as fit and in shape as he is, he's never once made me feel 'fat'. I've always been appreciative of that.

I figure there's little sense starting any kind of real diet until after I get back from California. I simply can't torture myself by being around all those incredible restaurants we like to go to and not enjoy the experience. Napa Rose is not really the place to be when you're trying to diet.

So, do we wanna make this a thing?? I'm game if you are :)

Pete

I'm in !!

I have been doing Slimming World (in the UK) rather than Weight Watchers. I was doing it for 3 months and have lost 25lbs, then I kinda stopped for 2 months but have managed to keep my 25lbs off and I have just started it again this week :cool1: so count me in. I want to lose a further 60lbs before my trip to WDW on 1st December.

All I need to do now is convince my DH that we NEED to go on the Podcast cruise...wish me luck with this one! :rotfl2:

Good luck everyone! :wizard:

yep ill be in on this, i could do with losing a few lbs ....although could go in the other direction if baby comes along, actally if that happens soon i could end up being the biggest loser as i would have it b4 the cruise...lol:rotfl:
(we did book + one just incase!)

Pete, I completely relate to how hard life changes are. About 10 years I lost 85 lbs on Weight Watchers. In the past 5 years, I have gained about 20 back but am still within a normal range for height. It was a big shock to my mind when I started WW because I never really understood how poor my eating habits were. Things that I never paid much attention to like the amount of butter I used on my bagel or how much soda I drank, suddenly became clear to me. At first I was terrified to go to restaurants because I thought I would just be able to get a salad. Eventually, I realized that most restaurants have some really healthy entree choices but I may have needed to ask for slight changes in preparation.

Now smoking, on the other hand, has been something I have not been able to get a handle on for 20 years! I have "quit" off and on for periods of time but I was always cheating.

Recently, I began to take Chantix. It is a prescription medication which I am usually not big on taking. However, I just couldn't take the isolation and embarrassment I felt being the only person who smoked anywhere I went. I was sick of having to rush right out of the airport the minute the plane landed in order to smoke that cigarette. I was tired of being contolled by a stick!

Anyway, I went on Chantix and it is amazing! For the first week you are on it, you still smoke. You begin to lose the desire to smoke the whole cigarette and you find yourself smoking less. One week into it, you quit completey or at least try to quit completely. The physical craving for a cigarette has been almost non-existent. Mostly, I am struggling with the habitual side of smoking. I know I am going to do it this time, though, because I haven't cheated once. Not a puff! That is a miracle for me.

Insanely, or maybe not insanely, I have been training for the Disney Half Marathon in January 09. I KNOW I won't run the whole thing, but I will jog parts of it. The carrot of this event dangled in front of me will keep me from smoking. Thank God that I am obsessed with Disney!

I'd love to join you guys in your weight loss efforts! Quitting smoking and losing weight would be a thrill!

I'm sure you've heard this a million times....
exercise is the key....much more than diet....
not that if you exercise you can then eat a tray of brownies (don't i wish)...
but if you exercise, you'll both increase your metabolism and increase your muscle mass (thereby reducing fat)...

exercising also makes you feel better, even without weight loss - assuming you don't go overboard and try to make up for not having done anything before...

i finally started exercising again in February....i won't go into the gory details, but after successful surgery on January 1 (that i'd managed to put off for 2 years - but in the end would have died without it), i was finally able to start getting myself into shape.....

i'd tried to lose weight before this, but due to not being able to exercise, i wasn't able to lose weight. In fact, i kept slowly putting it on.

Now that i'm able to exercise, i've finally started to lose weight. Even though i haven't changed what i eat (i was always very very very careful about what i ate - i'm one of those looney tunes vegetarians).

Since beginning my exercise program (basically just speed walking on the treadmill for 5 km), i've managed to lose 12 lbs. :woohoo: :woohoo:
That's amazing to me. As i said, i've been slowly going up in weight no matter what i eat, because i wasn't able to exercise.
Now with the exercise, not only have i stopped gaining, i've started losing. :woohoo:

my goal when i started was also 50 lbs.

So how is this going to work because I need major help!!!!!!

possibly we could do it like they do on the UK Community Board where they have a group weight loss post each week....
One person on the board posts a new thread each week (diet week # XX)...and then in that thread everyone posts their weight loss for that week, and other people respond to the posts (cheers/support/ideas/ encouragement/etc etc.
and then they tally the total loss for the group for that week...

Count me in! I need to loose....80....I am not a scale person! :confused3

Count me in!! I will get on a scale today (if I can dust it off)

What a good idea - as someone said us over in the UK boards do a similar thing. A thread is posted on a Monday morning with the loss for last week and then everyone weighs in during the week. It generates a mass of support and encouragement . There is always someone about to give advise or even just a hug

I am a typical yo yo dieter and put on the same 10lbs and take it off again. Although 10lbs is not a lot in the scheme of things I am only 5ft 3 so it makes a big difference :headache:

It is all about being comfortable in your own skin

I am quite willing to run the DIS Unplugged Losers thread - if you want

Count me in! I need to take off 25-30 lbs. My weakness are carbs, (bread and pasta) and chocolate. Add to it long hours at the office, traveling and stress and it's real easy to pack on the pounds.

I know I need to excerise more. I realized that last week while taking a walking tour. I thought I was going to die. After putting in a 10+ hour day, the last thing I want to do is head to the gym.

While I need to start now, aiming for thin thighs and no butt in time for the cruise is a realistic goal.

I'm tossing my Mouse Ears in the ring and tying on the walking shoes....

maybe in addition to posting our losses (gains) each week, we should also post our exercise (as in, i managed to walk 5 days this week, or go to the gym 3 times, etc etc.)..

on the UK board, people also talk about their bad weeks...somehow it helps to get the encouragement of others to get back on track...
