It's funny - I was thinking about mentioning something about this on the show. I'm really needing to lose about 50 lbs myself and I'd really like to be there by the cruise. The doctor has really been riding me the last few months to start making some major life changes - but it's SO DAMN HARD!
I can completely relate to having zero will power. I fold like a cheap tent ever time I go out to eat (which is constantly since I won't cook for myself). Now that Walter is a 'gentleman of leisure' (he got laid off from work last week), he's insisting that the two of us must start going to the gym when we get back from California. I have to give him credit though, for as fit and in shape as he is, he's never once made me feel 'fat'. I've always been appreciative of that.
I figure there's little sense starting any kind of real diet until after I get back from California. I simply can't torture myself by being around all those incredible restaurants we like to go to and not enjoy the experience. Napa Rose is not really the place to be when you're trying to diet.
So, do we wanna make this a thing?? I'm game if you are
Pete
I'm sure you've heard this a million times....
exercise is the key....much more than diet....
not that if you exercise you can then eat a tray of brownies (don't i wish)...
but if you exercise, you'll both increase your metabolism and increase your muscle mass (thereby reducing fat)...
exercising also makes you feel better, even without weight loss - assuming you don't go overboard and try to make up for not having done anything before...
i finally started exercising again in February....i won't go into the gory details, but after successful surgery on January 1 (that i'd managed to put off for 2 years - but in the end would have died without it), i was finally able to start getting myself into shape.....
i'd tried to lose weight before this, but due to not being able to exercise, i wasn't able to lose weight. In fact, i kept slowly putting it on.
Now that i'm able to exercise, i've finally started to lose weight. Even though i haven't changed what i eat (i was always very very very careful about what i ate - i'm one of those looney tunes vegetarians).
Since beginning my exercise program (basically just speed walking on the treadmill for 5 km), i've managed to lose 12 lbs.
That's amazing to me. As i said, i've been slowly going up in weight no matter what i eat, because i wasn't able to exercise.
Now with the exercise, not only have i stopped gaining, i've started losing.
my goal when i started was also 50 lbs.
So how is this going to work because I need major help!!!!!!
possibly we could do it like they do on the UK Community Board where they have a group weight loss post each week....
One person on the board posts a new thread each week (diet week # XX)...and then in that thread everyone posts their weight loss for that week, and other people respond to the posts (cheers/support/ideas/ encouragement/etc etc.
and then they tally the total loss for the group for that week...
