We've cruised as a family of 4 three times. Each time we've asked for and been granted our own table. I wouldn't want to subject other families to my in-laws nice, but a little quirky in their own way.
when we made our cruise reservations with the TA, they asked the size table we wanted (small or large). Choose small. There are many, many tables of four in the dining rooms.
We requested a table just for our family but it wasn't granted. Now I am requesting a table for 2 for a dh and me only trip on Holland America. I hope that one works out better.
I've requested it on the past three cruises . . . and haven't received it once. I even tried to get a table change once on board last time and was unsuccessful. Good luck!
All you have to do is ask. Have your TA call them now and put in your request. Sure, you might get what you want by chance, but if you ask, you're almost assured of getting it.
I'm sure it can be done but why? My DW and I have cruised with DCL 4 times and have been at a table of six. We love getting to meet new people. Several of them we have kept up with since. One couple (a woman and her mother in law) we have sailed with twice. We asked to be seated together again and DCL did it. If we happen to sail at the same time again we'll do it again.
How many different table configurations are there for dinner? We will be first time Disney cruisers on 3 night Wonder. Our party is 4 adults and 2 kids. Will we most likely get our own table or do we need to ask? Thanks.
