Getting reservations with small contract

I was wondering how hard it is to get a studio reservation if you buy a small outside contract like VB or HH within WDW. I was looking at some 50 point Vero Beach and Hilton Head contracts which are pretty reasonable and good starters but didn't want to bother if I couldn't book in October in a studio somewhere at WDW. Is the 7-month window enough to book or are they all gone by this time?

Any help would be appreciated,
Suzanne

Keep in mind that Vero has high dues. I would try to buy a small SSR contract. That way you won't get locked out of WDW in October and you'll have the extra years - 2054 to boot instead of 2042.

October can be tough at BWV and BCV because of the Food & Wine Festival. VWL also tends to fill up pretty quickly in October.

You'd likely be able to get OKW or SSR for October at 7 months.

But, heed Littlestar's advice about VB. The dues are higher, and you'll be paying those high dues for the next several decades. This will, in time, cancel out any savings on the purchase price.

Don't buy a HH or VB contract unless you truly do see yourself wanting to stay there sometimes. The dues are far more of a cost issue than the initial buy in. Both of those resorts are in hurricane territory, and that is why VB dues have sky rocketed.

I'd look for a small on-site contract at either SSR or OKW for lower dues AND 11 month booking priviledge. October is difficult all around with the F&W, and most difficult at BWV and BCV because of their proximatey to Epcot.

I knew I posted here for a reason!! I didn't realize that the dues varied. I guess I haven't investigated this fully enough. Thanks so much for the great advice. I will look at OKW, my sister has points there and she just loves it.

Thanks again,
Suzanne

if you're hung up on one DVC as a favorite, buy there. if you're just happy being onsite, OKW (easier to find a small resale contract) and SSR (longer-term contract) are great choices.

and for reference, here are dues per point (ignore the VB-subsidized amounts):

You could have your sister do an add on at one of the resorts through Disney than sell it to you privately. You will still need to pay some fees to disney but it will be less than closing fees. This however will depend on how well you and your sister get along as there will need to a lot of trust involved as she will have access to the contract before the transfer of ownership and she will be responsable for the dues and paymnet of the points......
