Getting Ready for Winter Questions.

The pool was closed Monday and now its time to bring/store the rest of the stuff.
I have two deck boxes. I opened the pool towel storage box expecting to find at least damp towels after the horrendous rain and wind storm we had in Ct. last week. I was shocked to find that the towels did not even have a hint of dampness. I guess those deck boxes really work. It would be SOOOO convenient if I could store the chair cushions, etc in the boxes, cover them with a tarp and leave them out all winter. Has anyone done this?
Also, I bought a wrought iron patio set for the pool so I wouldn't have to bring it in the winter and now I am reconsidering. I have it covered with a heavy plastic furniture cover. Is that adequate? The set that I have on the deck has mesh chairs, we bring in the chairs, umbrella, etc but leave the table out and have never had a problem. I hate to lug it all in and then lug it out and take up space in the basement.

DH covers our patio set with a tarp and secures it with clamps. My only concern about your wrought iron set is that the heavy furniture cover be secured in some fashion. We closed our pool about 3 weeks ago and I hate looking out our back window and seeing the winter cover as opposed to the sun sparkling on the water. Here's to hoping for a short (and warmer than normal) winter!

Actually the cover is bigger than the table so I think I could secure the ends of it under the legs. Any thoughts on the deck boxes? Can they stay out all winter? They are heavy plastic.

Our pool is being closed today. It SHOULD have been closed about a month ago but the pool company wanted to keep it open longer because it's a new pool. I'm not sure what difference it makes but that's what they recommended. I can't wait for them to close it. I've been on leaf cleaning/scooping duty way too long, and after the rainstorm we had last week, I feel like I've spent more quality time with the pool than with my family!

We also bought a heavy, wrought iron table and chairs set, but I hauled all of it inside a few weeks ago, along with everything else in the pool area. Maybe it's my OCD, (haha), but I just have to have everything safe and sound in the basement. I was quite the sight the day I put it all away. I was the only one home and I couldn't lift the round iron umbrella stand, (those things weigh a ton), so I rolled it all the way across the pool deck, through the gate, across the lawn and down the basement stairs. :)

I like the sound of those deck boxes you have, and would like to get some for next summer. Where did you buy them? How big are they?
