Getting ready for Christmas thread!!

Pandora has several Christmas channels. I am listening to Swingin Christmas. They are playing Frank Sinatra. :)

I am putting all Halloween away today. I am bringing out a few Christmas things this week.

We are going out of town for Thanksgiving. A combo Disney/In-laws trip. So I am not even bothering to put up Thanksgiving.

I have bought a few things, but I have a Christmas wish list on Amazon that I am putting ideas into.

I am so excited for Chrismas! :santa:

Thank you for recommending Pandora!! It's working great. I have had problems with Live365 cutting in and out since they "improved" it. Does Pandora do Disney??

Working today- Then I'm off for a week. :woohoo: Need to get my shopping plans mapped out!!

We've started Christmas decorating as well. We'll be in Daytona Beach for T-giving and then at WDW the whole week after ! When we get back on 12/4, we have Christmas pageants, our DD's 3rd birthday and a whole slew of other events. If we didn't start decorating early, it would never get done. Plus, we have to pick out decorations for our ASMovies window...that's a must! We start decorating inside the house first so our neighbors won't think we're nutcases !
As for shopping, we've been on it since August when the Fall consignment sales started. We have tons of nieces and nephews, so we hit the sales hard for their clothes and toys for Christmas. We're about halfway done with all our shopping already :thumbsup2
T-24 days until we smell the fine Disney air...

I love Pandora. Not sure about Disney music. I love the feature where you can click to see the lyrics.

I just bought my daughter a Kindle and a red cover. I am afraid they might go into back order!

I mention putting up the tree yesterday and now my son and daughter are begging me to put it up! It's a 9' so it's a job just to get the tree up!

This is my favorite time of the year!!!:cool1:
I have started shopping -online and in the stores. Some of the online specials that pop up on Gottadeal.com are to good to pass up. I always wind up buying too much by the Christmas comes. And Black friday hasn't even come yet!!

We'll probably put up the tree Thanksgiving weekend but our village of assorted houses will be displayed earlier.

HDNET is showing Muppet Christmas Carol and How the Toys Saved Christmas...if you look into the future they seem to be showing a Christmas movie everyday for the next two weeks.

Next Thursday when the girls are off for Veterans Day we are going to put all the Christmas decorations up except for the tree. We have our village to put up and the small trees in the girls' rooms. We will put up the tree on Thanksgiving as well as put up the lights outside. I thought next Thursday would be the perfect day and the girls have the weekend to get their rooms ready. Hoping they will also make their Christmas lists for Santa. We will be visiting Santa down at Disney this year!!!!!

I actually have alot of my shopping done already too. Still waiting for my favorite holiday Black Friday to get the big items.
This week we have my DDs 5th birthday party which is a costume theme so our Halloween decorations are still up, but Sunday they will be coming down and the Christmas ones will be going up.
I have already started my tradition of Christmas music playing (that starts 11/1 every year).
Love the holidays!!

We left our halloween decorations up for a costume (pirate themed) party this weekend too. The boys had a great time. I did take the halloween decorations down this afternoon and our house is totally clean. I hope to get some decorations up next weekend. I think I'll start with our Christmas Village and our Snowman themed bathroom :goodvibes

I have started my Christmas Shopping, actually started in September. Not a lot done, but at least a start. We do a disney ornament exchange on another thread that I frequent and I've already made over 60 Disney Christmas Ornaments :goodvibes

Does anyone else have so many decorations they have to choose? For instance, I have a Dickens village and I also have the characters/scenes from Rudolph and I have to pick which one to put up- I just dont' have the room for both. I think I'll put up Rudolph this year. I also have a massive Santa collection. They generally go all over the house!

I got most of my outdoor lights up yesterday. We either threw out some last year or I am missing a box because I can't find all of my lights. I bought 10 strings of LED lights to try this year (our electric company gives a $3/string rebate and they were just under $7/string so that is a great deal). I need a few more strings to finish the big tree in our yard so I will pick those up today. It was 60 out yesterday so I wanted to take advantage of the warm weather.

I think I am going to have to hire someone to get the lights up on the big tree next year. They are about a foot short of being all the way to the top right now with the ladder and extension pole so next year there is no way we will get them all the way up unless we get a REALLY long extension ladder.

Most of the shopping is done (I pick things up year round).
I am one of your "scrooges" who does not like the decorations to go up until Thanksgiving:rotfl: but I am starting in on making the gingerbread pieces today so they will have time to get nice and hard and be ready to assemble on Thanksgiving Day.

Yesterday I found a recipe for Chocolate Crinkles in one of my mom's old cookbooks from 1974 and made them. I'm experimenting with cookies ahead of time this Christmas as I'm making a ton of cookies for friends and family.

I'm sad to report that they were terrible. I crossed them off my "To Bake" list.

As far as presents go, beside the cookies I'm making, I've figured out what I'm getting for my mom (magazine subscription-- she asked for it) and for DH (a new wallet he wants from a silly website- they're called Mighty Wallets. Might be a good gift idea for that teenage boy on your list!).

I have no clue what to get my father or my MIL/FIL.

I'm getting excited for Black Friday!!

Thanks for posting this. I just googled and they are great:rotfl2: Which one is your DH getting?

I can't decide yet!! They're all too funny! Either the Gorilla one on page 3 or one of the ones you can draw on yourself!

They really are a good idea for teenage boys.. DH still is one. :lmao:

I am sooooo already into the Christmas spirit!! Of course, the (albeit very light) blanket of snow on the ground when I woke up this morning definitely has something to do with it! Seems the rain has melted it away, but WOO HOO! Christmas has begun! My radio station has switched over to Christmas music 100% of the time already. I alternate between that and my "Christmas with the Rat Pack" CD. DBF is already half bought for, but I haven't got anything for anyone else yet. Almost everyone is planned for, though. We don't have any decorations out-- probably this weekend, though!
I have to decide my wrapping theme and pick up boxes, paper, ribbon, gift stickers, etc. It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday season! I love wrapping and gifting :-)
I also absolutely can't wait until November 30 at 7-- that's when the tree lighting will air! Love watching it lit for the first time-- almost as much as I love going down to see it live with DBF!

DD2 and I watched Rudolph. I've spent some time taking out the village pieces and seeing what decorations are in what tubs downstairs. Planning on decorating with my girls all day on Thursday and listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies. May head back downstairs and watch/listen to Celtic Woman Concert or see what I can find on to watch.:santa::santa::santa:

Already bought 2 presents and my Christmas cards from Shutterfly are being delivered today!! This is HUGE for me as I tend to procrastinate. Also, if the weather cooperates, decorating the outside of the house this weekend. Not going to light it up until Thanksgiving but decorating just the same.

I am now DONE shopping for my husband! He is usually really hard to buy for- but I nailed it this year!:thumbsup2

I have to do some more for my kids and then there is MY MOTHER. She is so hard to buy for. :headache:
