OK, we'd like to be able to hook our WII up to the net to dowload old games and maybe even co-op some games or whatever you want to call it lol. We have Cable high speed internet but are at a loss as to how to hook it up to the internet and how it works once you do hook it up.

I believe my husband ordered a Nintendo Wi-fi USB connector, do you just pop this on the computer and it works or what? Any advice will be appreciated.

TIA,

Charity

We have one computer w/a wireless router and another one w/a USB thingy that links it to the wireless router. I dunno. Computer jargon is beyond me. :lmao: Anyway, it is very easy to get it connected. I did it all by myself. If I can do it, anyone can. I can't tell you how I did it, but I did it. I know I opened the wii manual and followed the instructions and VIOLA....it worked first try and it was fast and easy. Never fear....it'll be a piece of cake once you get the wifi.

The connector likely will be plugged into the Wii and it will pick up the Wifi signal that way.....at least that's how it works on teh XBOX360.

But do we need to buy something else along with the wi-fi thing? I heard about a wireless router..is that something we need too or will the USb thing work on its own?

We had our router already and I didn't plug anything into my wii to have it connect to wifi. :confused3 Maybe what you ordered is an item to be used instead of a router? Any way you go, once you have what you need, connection is easy.

We had to purchase a LAN adapter for the WII at Game Stop. Ours is not wireless, DH ran the internet cable and hooked it up to our network. It's pretty cool!

We already had a wireless router for our computer, so DH just had to go to WiiShop (on the Wii) and pay $5 to get access to the net from the Wii. He had to put in the encryption passwords for the the wireless connection, but it was quick and smooth.

If you don't have a wireless setup in your house, you should be able to connect with the USB cable that your DH ordered.

Enjoy!

Ok I know nothing so don't laugh at me too hard, but let's say you're online isn't shown on your monitor or your TV? LOL:confused3

Is it $5 a month or just a one time $5 fee? What is the appeal of hooking to the internet? Do you get to actually play against other people?

It's a one-time fee of 500 Wii points ($5).

I don't know about playing against other people. DH uses it to surf the 'net via the t.v. occasionally.

Once you've set it up, the internet shows up as an option on the Menu page for your Wii... so it shows whatever Wii game you have in, the Weather, the Wii Shop, the Internet (can't remember the official name for it), etc... as your options on the Main Menu.

Surfing the 'net with a Wii remote is pretty cool because it comes up with a keyboard on the t.v. screen and you use the remote to point and click on the letters you want. And the Wii will guess how you're going to finish the word. Like, if you've typed "D-I-S", it will offer you choices of possible ways to finish that and you could choose "DISNEY" from the options instead of picking out all of the letters to spell the whole word.

You DONT have to buy anything extra for Wii to connect to the internet....The Wii has a wifi connection built right into the box.

You do need WiFi connection hooked up to Your modem!

OK, so let me get this straight. I already have the Wii hooked up & working.....and I already have a Wireless Router for our internet. So for a $5 fee I should already be ready to go? :confused3 Do you enter a credit card...or how does that work?

You have everything correct...except the $5 fee. There is no fee!
Just follow the instructions on the Wii.
It needs to know the password set on your Wireless router.:thumbsup2

Here are very clear instructions
