Thanks Guys. Think I got it. If you make a reservation say for 160 points. Can I wait list 2 as well or would I have to cancel the reservation to get on the wait list. Is it set up to cancel the existing reservation and get your first wait list.
My main question is Im trying to use banked points in December. Don't laugh. I will stay where ever but I would like to wait list the places I would like to stay. I have 320 points available right now (without borrowing) and am looking at 1 bedrooms. So if I want a OKW for 200 and want to wait list BWV and the AKV how many points will I need. Off coarse I plan on canceling the initial reservation if one of the wait list comes through. Sorry for the confusing question.
Thanks
Rad
You do not need to cancel your existing reservation first. Keep it in reserve so you have someplace to stay if neither wait list pans out. Since all three (OKW reservation and BWV/AKV wait lists are for the same dates, you'll need enough points available for the single reservation that requires the most points.
Don't leave it up to chance. Tell the Member Services cast member exactly what you want to do. (e.g., "I want to waitlist for a BWV one-bedroom with a preferred water view, or an AKV Kidani one-bedroom with a savana view. If either one of those comes through, I want to cancel my existing OKW reservation and re-use those points. I want to use my banked points on my OKW contract first, then current points to cover the rest of the reservation. I'd like these wait list requests to expire at 30 days (or 7 days) from check-in.")
Canceling the OKW reservation and using your banked points first should be automatic. However, it doesn't hurt to say it. Expect Disney cast members to be knowlegeable and take the actions that are in your best interest. However, the best way to get exactly what you want is to be very clear and tell them exactly what you want up front. Don't assume they'll know what you want. Then, follow up after the call to ensure what you asked for is what they did. The member web site now has a great deal of useful information. Check your bookings, check your contracts and point balances, and check you wait lists. Bottom line, it's your vacation.
There was a story on the boards a while back of someone who had wait-listed a first and second choice. Her wait list came through for her first choice and she was thrilled. However, the cast member forgot to delete the wait list for her second choice. A while later, the still-active wait list for her second choice got a match. It cancelled the reservation she really wanted and booked her second choice.
