Getting new magic bands?

Hi all!

A while back my girlfriend and I went to WDW and got magic bands for our trip. We'll be going this summer with my family but would prefer to get new magic bands (and maybe customize a bit too). Is this possible or do we have to use the ones we have? We'll be setting up a new Disney Experience account for the family so it would be separate from the one I set up for just the two of us.

Has anyone else had to do this?

If you and your group stay at a WDW resort you will automatically be sent magic bands. You can customize them on MDX once everyone has the resort reservation linked.

To clarify, they send them after the reservation is linked? And if you customize they send you the customized ones?

When you say " customize " you mean pick a color and a name to be placed on the back just like your first MB right ? Yes you can get a new one for every reservation you make. Many people have one in each color, no rules against it.

You will get new Magic Bands for your new reservation. Magic Bands are given out for each new resort reservation whether or not you already have a band from a prior trip, so no worries there.

But keep in mind that if you create a brand new MDE account then your old Magic Bands will not work for your new trip. They are tied to your original MDE account. If you did want to use your old Magic Bands and thereby have two sets of MB's for your trip, then instead of creating a new MDE account, keep your original account and ask to join the family's MDE. If you join as family then you will be able to share all activities and they will be able to make fp selections for you, and vice versa. My DH and I have two separate MDE accounts but I can control everything from my account.
