Getting nervous about crowds

I've been reading some threads by people who are there now, and they say it is crowded right now. :scared1: We're leaving tomorrow for a week in the world, and I was counting on low crowds. Am I going to be disappointed?

if you're disappointed, then i will be too. we will be there through next week as well. I think it is reassuring however, that there are rooms available at the moderates. the values are filled for our dates, but several moderates have availability. so maybe it won't be that bad.

I'm getting a bit nervous too. We won't be going until Feb, but I did expect it to be quite a bit "slower" than what we have been reading. Hopefully you will have fantastic crowds! My advice is to have the top 2 or 3 things in each park you will DIE if you don't do :), then take anything else as a special treat. I'm planning on going with this mindset and will just be happy to be "home'! :cool1: If all else fails, I can wander the streets of MK and take in all the little things that make it so special. Have a fantastic trip!!! Make sure to let us know how the crowd level was when you get back. :)

im with you guys too!
i thought crowds were suppose to be low :confused3

hopefully we'll all just get YOAMD fastpasses ;)

I used to get nervous about crowds too. Then I spent 10 days at the World last June (i.e., busy season). With the right touring plans I rode almost every attraction at least once (many major ones 2 or 3 times) and never waited in line more than 15 minutes. Eating lunch a littler earlier (around 11:30) and having ADRs for dinner also cut down on the waiting for food. The only things the crowds really impacted were the need to line up extra early for all the nighttime events in order to get a good view. I'm sure no matter how bad the crowds are now, they're nowhere near as bad as they are in June, so plan accordingly, stop worrying, and have a great time!

I hope they are not to packed b/c we are leaving in 8 days and we picked Feb b/c of the fact that the crowds should be lower than in the summer time..:scared1: :sad2:

You will definatly be disappointed if you let yourself get that way. Just remember this one thing. You cannot control the crowds at all no matter how hard you try. They will only cause you to be dissappointed and ruin your vacatoin if you let them.

We were there right before 4th of July and the crowds were very large but we had a great time because we didn't let it get to us.

My buddy is there right now and he said he walked on rides yesterday at DHS. Bottom line though, there WILL be lines, but they will be lines that (a) you can practically avoid altogether with a little planning and intelligent Fastpass use and (b) will not be very long if you choose to wait in them. I leave tomorrow too - this coming week is as slow as Disney gets on average, and so you planned the right week to go. But there's nothing you can do about Disney becoming a more and more popular trip. Finally, the best advice is to think: Line? So what? 15 minutes with your friends / family in anticipation of a fun-filled attraction is 100x better than 15 minutes in the office or at home doing laundry.

thanks everyone!
you are very encouraging. i am so excited- crowds won't stop that! im only going for 4 days so i want to make sure i can do as much as possible.

i hope everyone has a fantastic time! well be in line together :dance3:

I believe that a lot people used the MLK holiday to pull the kids from school this week. I think next week will be much better. But either way, I'll be in WDW so I will be happy!!

I know I shouldn't worry about crowds since, as you said, there's nothing I can do about them. I just planned this trip at this time to try to hit low crowd levels, and in doing so, chose to get docked 3 days pay for missing work. If the crowds are crazy, it won't seem like it was worth losing the pay as much. Like others have said, though, at least we'll be in WDW, so crowds or no crowds, it will be great! :wizard:

I'm planning on going to the MK this Sunday. Would that be considered a low crowd day or should I assume the weekends don't count?

We have been to the world the last two years the first week of Feb. The crowds have been very low to manageable. We rarely waited any longer than 20-30mins for any ride. We leave in 9 days and it should be great. I have also been to the world at spring break or summer. So crowded to me may be different than it is for you. If you have a plan you will not miss anything. Have fun

I have heard that the value resorts are full several of the upcoming weeks due to cheerleader competition/visits. This shouldn't translate into more crowds.. at least until President's Weekend.

I just got back from DW and stayed at Pop Century. One of the bartenders at Petals mentioned that they were 100% filled this week and next due to cheerleading and baseball competitions. Even with the Brazilian tour groups that people are mentioning (who were SO much better behaved than the average teenage Americans), with intelligent usage of FastPass and Park Hopping, I had a blast. I went to 2 parks by accidents on EMH (Hollywood Studios Evening EMH and Magic Kingdom Morning EMH), which was a mistake. We ended up at Epcot both days. So, my advice for this week is to avoid the parks with EMH and be smart. You'll have a blast!
