Getting Marriage License

Hi everyone,

My DF is a Canadian citizen who has been living in the US since he was 4 years old. He has never applied for US citizenship and now I am wondering what the Florida marriage license requirements would be for someone who is not a US citizen. I am hoping that all you UK brides or anyone else that had this situation might be able to help. We are planning on going to the courthouse to get our license. Will his NYS drivers license be enough or will we need some other proof of identification? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just adding another question to this thread do you need a full birth certificate with you parents on or will a short one be ok. I am from the UK

you dont need your birth certificate, you just need a passport and the money!!

Hi!

I work in the marriage license and passport office in Ocala, FL (Marion County) and all you need is a photo ID (either a US issued driver's license or ID card) or a passport. If you (or your significant other) has been living in the states but is not a legal citizen, then they need to bring their passport. We will use the passport number in place of social security number. If either of you have been previously married it is very important to know the ending date of your last marriage. In Marion County we do not need to see documentation because you will be taking an oath that all the information you have provided is true and correct. Other than those two things (and the money of course ($93.50)) that is all you have to do. If you are from Florida there is a 3 day waiting period. If you are from out of state or out of the country the waiting period does not apply to you. Hope this answers your questions.
