Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!
Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!
9th December 2008.
I woke up very excited this morning as we are finally going to Disney!!!
As much as I always enjoy US/IOA etc I was desperately wanting to get to Disney. I was particularly looking forward to seeing the Wilderness Lodge.
We got showered & packed the last few things into our case. I checked the bill that had been poked under the door during the night and completed the express checkout envelope. We loaded the car & were on our way to the Wilderness Lodge by 9.30am!
We walked into the WL lobby & were totally gobsmacked to see the beautiful Christmas tree & stunning lobby.
I stood for a minute or two and soaked it all up.
We walked over to the check in desk but our room was not yet ready, no suprise here as it was very early. We were still able to be checked in and they gave us our Key to The World cards & explained a little about the Dining Plan as it was our first time using it. We then stored our luggage & had a walk around the Lobby and took a few photos:
We stopped off at Roaring Forks and had a Hot Chocolate each, Lee had a blueberry muffin. We then decided to go & get some lunch at Downtown Disney & have a wander around the shops so we headed to the bus stop. The bus came within about 10 minutes & we were soon at DTD (via the Grand Floridian). We looked around most of the shops in the Marketplace area. I spent an absolute fortune in the Christmas shop & also picked up some scrapbooking bits too.
Lee was feeling really poorly & didn’t want anything to eat so I opted to get a quick bite from Earl of Sandwich. I made Lee sit & rest at a table outside whilst I queued up and got the Hawaiian BBQ (Hawaiian BBQ ham, fresh pineapple and Swiss cheese. - $4.95) it was YUM! I also got a Tomato Soup for Lee, although he only managed to eat a little bit.
Afterwards we had a look around the Lego shop:
Followed by a quick peak at the new T-Rex restaurant & menu:
Here is one of the displays in World of Disney, I loved the Santa Mickey head bauble & had to get one.
Lee was feeling very light headed & needed to rest so we got the bus back to the hotel. It was about 4pm, I went back up to check in to get our room number, which was 1015. We were on the ground floor not too far from Roaring Forks which was very useful as we decided to buy the refillable cups - the Hot Chocolate was lovely & we drank loads of it during our stay.

These little fellas were there to greet us:

The light above the table & chairs.

We called the bell desk and arranged for our luggage to be delivered, which came very quickly. Lee helped me with the unpacking then he had a lay down on the bed & caught the 2nd half of the Chelsea Champions League match on the tv.
We then got showered & changed for our dinner reservation at Narcoosee’s. I wanted to get to the Grand Floridian a bit early so we could have a look around & see the Christmas decorations. We went down to the boat dock & there was a boat just arriving it was the one which goes over to the Contemporary (via Fort Wilderness) so we jumped on that & then took the Monorail from the Contemporary to the GF. The Christmas tree & Lobby was beautiful, apart from Animal Kingdom Lodge we had never been to any of the Disney resorts so was keen to see a few this trip.
They also had a huge Gingerbread House which was amazing!
They actually sell the gingerbread at a little counter around the back of the house, I got a gingerbread shingle (which is one of the roof tiles). I ate it a few days later, it was nice.
