Getting Hilton in DTD thru Priceline?

I know, I know, there is no sure fire way to guarantee what hotel you will get through Priceline, but I have been reading the message boards at biddingfortravel.com and I was wondering if any of the other resort hotels for the Disney vinicity ever accept bids of $60 or $65? I have seen a few people say they got Hilton for those rates, but never for any of the other resorts....so if I really wanted the Hilton and I bid only up to $65, would I be relatively safe in thinking I would either get Hilton or nothing?

Is there any other way to get a really good rate at Hilton (around $80)
other than Priceline?

If you are using PL, don't count on getting any particular resort no matter what price you go up to. Have you tried looking up the price for there thru HotelKingdom.com and Orbitz.com????

Unless you are willing to accept the possibility of getting something else, I wouldn't risk it.

Last month I got Hilton WDW thru PL, I had been bidding every few days for weeks and didn't get Hilton until 6 days before my trip for $60. It seems they don't release low rate rooms to PL until they have availability at the last minute. The location is very convenient and you can walk to Disney Downtown. You also get to participate in extra magic hours at Disney if you stay at the Hilton.

I tell everyone to book a fully cancellable back up reservation somewhere else and then bid Priceline right up to a day or two before. You have nothing to lose that way. If you don't win Priceline, just stay use the other reservation.

There was a time the Dolphin was coming up on Priceline, but haven't seen that is quite a long time. I don't think you can go wrong at the resort level in the WDW area around $65. Never, ever count on staying at a particular hotel when you bid on Priceline. That way you will never be disappointed.

Usually the Hilton is the one coming up w/ the lowest bids for that level. However, if you'd be unhappy w/ any of the resorts for that price in that "zone", then I'd say don't do it.

I've been researching the bidding and it seems no one has ever gotten
any of the other Disney area resorts for as low as $65 so I thought I would be "safe" only going that high and either getting Hilton or nothing at all.

The other resorts listed are:
Marriott World Center
Gaylord Palms
Hyatt Regency
Omni at Championsgate

The lowest I've seen any of these go for is $80 to $85 and never anything near $60-$65...while people do say they have gotten Hilton at these very low bids.

Ah well, I really wanted to try the Hilton, but guess I'll do The Grovesnor

I think you're on the money. The chances of getting a hotel other than the Hilton for a bid in the 60's is very low but not zero. You have to decide if it's worth the small risk.

I didn't notice, but when is your trip? If it's too far out, you may not get anything low because of that.

My trip isn't until May 7th, I know it's too far out to do Priceline, but I actually even seached and found accepted bids for early May of 2005. A couple did get Hilton for $65. All the other resorts went for $85 and up.

Even though I agree and think the risk is very low of getting any other resort in the $60's, I guess I better not take the chance as I only want the Hilton because I won't have a car and don't want to wind up relying on the shuttle services of any of the other resorts.

I've stayed at the Grosvenor before, it isn't so bad, especially since I don't care about the pool or anything....my big thing is LOCATION and it's so nice to just walk across the street to DTD. I was just hoping to swing a little upgrade to the Hilton.
