Getting frustrated, need hotel advice.

We stayed at del sol inn last year. We enjoyed it. We were on the bottom floor next to the pool. The ceilings are pretty thin but that's expected for a motel. We enjoyed the room size, enough for 3 adults a 5 year old and infant. It was clean and housekeeping always did a good job. The closeness was great and right behind dennys. The only bad thing that I worried about when reading reviews last year was the parking situation. (Not sure if your driving) I read that if they run out of room that you would have to park at another hotel and then walk back. This wasn't the case when we arrived. They told us valet was included in the parking fee. Anytime the lot was full a valet guy came up and told us he would double park our car for us which was what happened a few nights coming back late. It was nice that it was included in the fee. Also the only problem I had was that they didn't have my reservation in their computer even though I booked it right through their website. I had my confirmation papers and numbers but still no luck. Luckily they had the room I reserved available, although it did take a while to process everything at the rate I originally reserved. Other than that I would stay again if the price was right. We booked 10 months in advance and got a great deal at desert inn this year. As long as your expectations aren't super high, I think you'll enjoy del sol inn :)

I just came home from a stay in the 2 queen/bunk bed room. We love it there. It was our 4th stay. It's always clean and service is great. The walk is very short and off the street which is nice. The pool is warm and has cool lights at night. Watch the "extra" fees though. If you don't use the safe, let them know and they will remove the safe charge for your room. There is a $5/day resort fee that can catch you off guard. If you can, get an upstairs room. Depending on who is above you, if you're on the ground floor, it can sound like a heard of elephants at 5am!

Thank you for this post!

How do I find out about bedbugs?? We are going to Disney world this summer and I never thought of this

Thanks
Kathy

We'll be stying @ the Del Sol next month. I will defenitely call ahead and make sure they have my booking in their system. Thanks!

Your welcome :) Yes. Do call. I have called Desert Inn a few times this year making sure my reservation is there! Leaving for DL in 2 weeks!!!:cheer2:

I read the full thread and your parking post. I hope they still valet. I am going to assume they changed it because of all the negative reviews they were getting about that situation. But parking is tight! We had a suburban last year and their stalls are pretty tight (unless parked under the building on the left). It worked though. Like a previous post said, if noise bothers you ask for an upstairs room. There is no elevators though if that would be an issue. Breakfast is boxed cereal and dry pastries, if a light breakfast is good for you then it'll do. But I do recommend Del sol inn :)

stayed at the Del Sol back in august. It was okay, nice and close and cheap. If you're planning on charging more than one phone, gameboy, etc, bring a power strip or extension cord with a splitter since there were only 2 outlets in the room and one was hard to reach behind the bunk bed

That's great advice about the power strip, thank you! I will definitely bring one.

We will be flying, so the parking situation won't affect us.

I am a pretty big breakfast eater, and I don't eat grains, so it sounds like I'll have to figure something else out for that. No biggie, though.

Thank you for the info. We plan on going to maybe Food 4 less for breakfast items and not eating the hotels. I will bring a spliiter. :)

is there a list of bed bug hotels?? is there a way to check if your hotel has them?

Trip advisor has a list. Sorry, I don't know the link to it. You can also surf google and check through other travel sites.

Try the Candy Cane - it was clean, cheap, continental breakfast was included, has a pool, laundry facilities and a free shuttle. They even give you a discount to come back the following year. Go to Tripadvisor - great reviews!

Let me ask you this - how bad of an idea is it really to book Park Vue? I know it fits all of my requirements. The room with the bunks is small, but I don't really care about that. I just really don't want to bring home bed bugs or anything of that nature.

The Desert Palm looks like it's too far to walk - do you go to the main entrance, or how does that work?

I've read the bedbug review too but I've read more good than bad. I've booked the Park Vue for our stay in March. It has everything we need and I'm confident that if they did have a bedbug problem it would be sorted out by now.
