Getting from Universal Studios and IOA

Hi I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a gate between the two parks to save you a long walk from one park to the other. Is is true ?

There is no gate between the parks. You may have heard about the exit near the old Nick Studios. It only takes you out behind the Hard Rock Cafe. You walk from that exit past the Hard Rock, NBA restaurant, and to the front gates of IoA but it is not a gate that connects the two parks.
