My info comes from a Disney Transportation Manager:
In order to get from a Park to Downtown Disney, you need to go back to your own resort, and catch the bus from there. If you are not a Disney Resort Guest, then you'd need to take your own car, or a taxi.

We couldn't remember how we did this two years ago. We were suppose to be at FQ using a boat to DTD, but we were moved due to the closing. Thank-you.

Is there a DTD bus at TTC?

We are staying at AKL and I wondered if that would be a faster choice than going back there...for example from the MK to get to DTD?

I know I'll have the system down by the time my trip is over!

Thanks.

If you ask my manager, they will tell you to go back to AKL. They tell me that is what I am supposed to tell guests as well. However, I often mis-hear people, and I could have sworn you said you were from Old Key West, so you can go there to transfer. LOL

(BTW: the Contemporary would be a poor choice from the MK, as that bus is always jam packed)

I think we might stay at Old Key West sometime so perhaps a short trip to check that out would be a good idea :)

Please remember that the cost of Disney transportation to/from OKW is not picked up by Disney, or passed along to premium renters as it is regular Disney resorts, it is assessed to the DVCers that own there in their annual dues. If transfers at the resort require the addition of extra buses, it is reflected in our dues.

I understand your concerns -- In fact that's why the official policy is as it is. However, OKW typically has the lowest demand of any resort on property... the few guests that it gets transferring there doesn't really effect service like it would at Caribbean or the Contemporary.

As it stands right now, Old Key West signage throughout the resort advertises buses as running every 30 minutes. The Transportation Guide rates OKW as every 25 minutes. In reality, we dispatch every 15 minutes -- the standard interval, about half of the posted interval. With the exception of peak hours, most of these buses run with less than 5 people on board, sometimes none at all.

I will add this... right now, OKW could use the traffic... when Saratoga Springs opens up, there have been rumors that both resorts will share one bus because of the low demand. Personally, I don't agree with this, since both resorts will have multiple stops. As it is, it's a good 10 minutes to go all the way around OKW, and would be at least 10 to go all the way around Saratoga Springs... depending on how they have it set up. Hopefully, it's just a rumor, but we'll see.

It wouldn't be the first time OKW shared buses with nearby resorts, when OKW opened it was on the same route as the treehouses. We did NOT share with the Institute, but I wouldn't be surprised if we share with SSR during the early phases of the resort. If we do, it will add travel time, but will reduce the cost of our dues, at least temporarily. Unless you think they will have more than two stops at SSR in the first phase of it's operation?

I found this on Deb's page and it must be incorrect then?

Disney World Bus: From any Disney resort, take the bus marked Downtown Disney. From Fort Wilderness or any theme park take a bus/monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then board the Downtown Disney bus. Check at your resort to see what time the bus for Downtown Disney operates!

What is on deb's site for how to get to DTD via the bus is now out dated!! Tyler's info for DTD, he is posting here in the transportation board is up to date!! Many of the changes that he has commented on have changed just since I was at WDW in March/April of this yr!!

Mgm up until sometime this month did have a DTD after 3pm that went only one way. But that is either already been eliminated or will be soon!

That would be partially incorrect. All Disney resorts, including Fort Wilderness have direct service to Downtown Disney all day long. There is NO bus to Downtown Disney at any of the four theme parks, or the Transportation & Ticket Center.

First off...thanks for the info again on TTC. I was looking for info on another question and ran across that so thought I would ask.

Here's my new Question(s) about DTD:
We are going to the 6:00 show of Cirque which gets out around 7:30 and would like to see Spectro Magic at 9:00. Will we make it from DTD with the bus service?

We would have to go back to our resort and then take a bus to MK, correct?

Was there a bus stop by Cirque? Or was I dreaming the last time I was there. Now it's gone and we have to walk to the one by Planet Hollywood?

Due to a contract with Planet Hollywood, among other reasons, the West Side bus stop was closed. The closest stop will be near Planet Hollywood. You should have plenty of time to make it to the MK...

I was wondering what happened to it...interesting! Too bad, that sure was a convenient bus stop. :(

With the exception of Cirque du Soleil exits, it was never very busy, which didn't help it's fate...

What will I do if I get lost when I am there. If you see some crazy woman in pink yelling your name, you'll know it's me:Pinkbounc

Thanks for all your help!!!

Best advice... LOOK UP... read and follow the signs... you'd be surprised at how helpful they can be... (and by how many people ignore them)
