Getting from the airport.

Hi everyone,

I just booked my airfare and this will be the first time I have flown to Orlando. Is Mears the best way to get to Disney or do you have some other suggestions?

We don't bother with Mears anymore. The wait at the airport, too many stops, and crowded vehicles aren't worth the cheaper price for us. We have been taking a car service (FL Tours is who we've used lately) for the last few trips and it's been great. The price is a little higher (unless you have 3 or more people, then it's actually cheaper than Mears), but it's worth it to have a clean, comfortable car waiting to pick us (only us) up and bring us directly to our hotel (and back to the airport on the return trip). A cab is generally the same price as the car service, so I don't know why anyone would want to pay the same for a smelly cab, unless it's a very last minute trip and a reservation with a car service couldn't be made.

WE usually get such good car rental rates, that the cost isn't much greater than the shuttles or car services. We like having a car to go between resorts, even though we never use it for the parks.

We have rented a car for the past several years. We used Mears the first couple of times we went, and they were OK, but sometimes there was a wait for the bus to leave, and depending on your resort, if you were the last stop, then you were on the bus for a long time!!!!

Several trips ago we used Tiffany Town Car, and they were good. I think the car held 5 and I want to say that the price was around $100 for the car. Again, this was a while ago, so I am sure the price is different, but the service was excellent.

Check out FL Tours - "The Official Transportation Service for the DIS". Their link is at the top of this board. We have reserved a luxury van for our party of 8 and the cost is so much better than if we were to pay individually for Mears. Plus we get a grocery stop!

One of the worst things about Mears is the actual waiting for them to call you to your bus. We have waited up to 45 minutes the last time in an exhaust-filled area. It was horrible. Thank goodness it was in October and not in the middle of summer. The heat and exhaust would probably have made me pass out.
