Note: this will be before park opening for the Yuletide Fantasy Tour.

Is there any way, short of using some car (our own or a cab) to get to the front entrance of Epcot from BW at 8:30 am?

We have a car and will use it if that is our only option - it will just cause some logistical issues later in the day involving having to return the car to Epcot when our plans do not involve Epcot for the day (plus parking at BW can be a bear).

A $5 cab ride may be worth it in this case.

However, there is a VERY roundabout way to do it with Disney transport.

Starting at around 6:30 am or earlier, you can get an early bus to Magic Kingdom, then monorail to TTC, then monorail to Epcot. If you are one of the only guests on the bus, ask the driver if you could be dropped at the Poly, then walk over to the TTC and monorail to Epcot.

If DHS is open or opening and the bus is running, there is a direct bus from DHS to Epcot. That would be easier than BW to MK to monorail.

I am sure buses will be running from resorts to DHS at that time, but I don't know what the scheduling is for the bus from DHS to Epcot.

I think they will let you in through the International Gateway. They have a list of people who have early dining or tour reservations. We got in once about 8:15 when we had a Norway breakfast.

That is correct and it would be no different when others have early ADR's or tours at the other parks before they open.

The problem is this....you don't need to be 'in' Epcot in order to do this tour. So, with that in mind, you may very well not be allowed in early. I did this tour a few years ago, staying at BW. I got lucky since it was an EMH morning at Epcot. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get in early enough. And that was what I was told by CMs working the Gateway.
I would just plan on driving over. No need to stress that way.
