we are on the med cruise in sept

has anyone ever used a car service for airport pick up--to hotel then hotel to port then port to the airport

or does disney go tranfers

could someone recommend a nice not real expensive hotel for the night before

thanks all

I stayed at the Acta Atrium Palace and loved it.

I arranged my car through Rainbow Barcelona for airport to hotel and also hotel to port - they were able to arrange for the same driver both times.

We have grabbed a cab both times. Last time we stayed at the NH Constanza which we found convenient to both airport and port and to the metro for sightseeing prior to cruise. Didn't pre book, plenty of cabs at airport and outside the hotel.

thanks for the tips--Ill be checking them out

were they expensive

I didn't think so. But I am only one person. I don't know what the situation is for families (I know a lot of European hotels aren't really set up for families).

I have done a Med cruise twice ( as I live in the UK its really close!!) First time we stayed at the Novotel Barcelona City, second time at the Silken Diagnol. They are both in the same area. We chose those hotels as they both have small rooftop swimming pools, where we could spend the afternoon, and DD would have fun! The Glories shopping centre is just a 5 minute walk, and it has a Carrefour supermarket where we bought beer and bottles of water to take on board to take out on excursions ( the water, not the beer  )
I used Sun transfers both times to go from the airport to the hotel. Booked online and paid at the time of booking. I think it was about £35. To get from the hotel to the cruise port we just had the hotel call us a taxi. Both times it was around 30 Euros.

We did this same cruise last Sept. (if it is the last one of the season...we then went B2B with a WBTA). Flew in two days early with all Disney connections and hotel (Renaissance). Hotel was pricy, but they had a DCL desk in the lobby where we could do some preboarding and confirm our bus to the Magic. The hotel was located in the heart of newer Barcelona...within walking distance of many Gaudi structures. Took the bus to Park Guell, on recommendation and directions provided by hotel staff. They couldn't be nicer...got us tickets (recommended) on their computer. When we fly overseas (from Portland, OR), we like to have no worries about connections, so go all Disney.
One thing I always warn folks about going the Barcelona is pickpockets. I got nailed in a gift shop across from the entrance to Park Guell...not much, just day money. The serious stuff and passports were in a belt under my shirt. There are videos on YouTube about these pros and their scams. They even recruit kids because of their small hands. Keep your valuables close in all parts of the city.
The rest of the cruise will involve, if you schedule it so, long days and late meals (make servers aware of your schedule). However, it will be one of the most exciting and memory-making adventures you will ever take...enjoy!!!

We took cabs. Much cheaper than the Disney transfers. It was 20 euro to the hotel from the airport, 10 to the port. Would recommend a cab again since it was very quick and much cheaper. Cabs were also readily available.

We are staying close to Placa de Catalunya so we are taking the aerobus from the airport to city center and then walking a couple blocks to our hotel (there is 6 of us). If we only buy the one way its 5,90 euro per person. Round trip purchase (online anyways) is 10,20 euros which we purchased as its good for 15 days once validated and we will only be there for 14 total (before/after cruise and during). We hired a driver Roman Llort with Press i Car BCN to pick us up at the hotel and take us to the port and then after the cruise pick us back up and take us back to a hotel for one more night. Then we will take the aerobus to the airport. Depending on how many people you have, taxi might be more cost efficient. We just have too many people with luggage to use even a large taxi.

I've completed two Disney cruises out of Barcelona (2010 & 2015) and the first time I shared a cab with some friends and the second time I joined a group (Disney Cruise Meets) that arranged for bus service to the port. I would suggest you check the cruise groups because someone might be arranging group transportation or at least maybe you can share a cab with someone. The Disney Cruise Meets is also a nice place to check to see if anyone is making arrangements for group hotel discounts. As for my previous visits to Barcelona my first trip I stayed at Hotel Continental Barcelona which is on La Rambla Street. It location was convenient to a lot of things and the hotel staff was wonderful. I also enjoyed the included meals with my stay but the rooms where basically pink on pink on pink décor. My second trip to Barcelona I stayed at Hotel Praktik Garden which is away from the touristy things but still within walking distance to the subway which was convenient to get around the city. The staff at this hotel was great as well and the rooms where very modern and it looked like it was recently decorated. For me I prefer Hotel Praktik Garden because it was not in your typical touristy type area and I felt closer to the locals. Good luck with planning your trip.

Barcelona Day Tours also does pick-up from airport to hotel or port. If you are arriving day of, you could also buy transfers from DCL. If you arrive the night before, you can only do Disney transfers if you stay at one of their hotels however.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Del Mar before our Mediterranean cruise. We just took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. That hotel was one that DCL was using for guests that booked hotel stays through them and they had a desk in the hotel lobby that you could book transportation to the port. They told us that for just the two of us, it would be cheaper to just take a taxi. We ended up taking a DCL half day excursion to the monastery at Montserrat that took us to the port afterwards

We booked a tour to Montserrat and Cava on departure day through Barcelona Day tours! It was fantastic! We have 2 kids (ages 10 and 7 at travel) and they were great with them. We have used Barcelona Day tours on both of our trips to Barcelona and have booked multiple 1/2 day and full day tours with them that were fantastic! They dropped us off at our hotel ... Novotel Barcelona City. The hotel is a bit out of the way but has a wonderful rooftop pool and restaurant! We even walked to La Familia Sagrada. The kids loved the restaurant, the view is not to be beat and they even had some great dining specials and family activities.
We took a taxi to the airport. The taxi stand is right across the street from the hotel.

Another vote for Montserrat -- it should not be missed. A wonderful place to visit.
