getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

O.K so I am 3 wks today post my weight loss surgery (gastric sleeve). While the first wk was hard:sad2: I would do it again now if I had to. I have lost a grand total of wait for it........11kg and I feel on top of the world:thumbsup2. Still in the "obese" cat. But nearly into the "overweight" cat. Gosh who would of thought I would be so happy to get to be classed as "overweight". Still a bit more to go before I fall into that class. Gone from 97kg to 86kg, I can feel the difference when I walk. Its actually less work now to exercise as carrying an extra 11kg really does make a difference. While I think it was Ben? who had a go at me about it I have to say best best best thing I have ever done. I really hope that in 12wks time when we are on our cruise I will be able to go swimming and not feel like the lifesaver will have to save the whale in the water lol!:thumbsup2 Anyway eatting healthy but small amounts not feeling hungry all the time is such a help. Making sure I get protein in every meal. No carbs and taking my vitamins everyday. Life is on the up and up. I only wish my dear grandfather who died at christmas was here to see me transform. He would of been so happy for me. Just had to share and karen your cake pictures are killing me....just saying:rotfl2:

hey that's fantastic...more so that you are now getting into a healthy weight range and then will live forever(that's my plan ).
Oh and ignore the labels of obese, overweight etc....you know when you have hit the right weight for your body type....I'm in the overweight range and really just need to lose 2-3 kg to feel great...
and granddad can see you quite well from where hes at...so take heart..he knows:thumbsup2
keep up the great work, and you guys are an inspiration to mepirate:....see, even us ninja firemen pirates have hero's.....

hehehe I love your feedback Karen you always make me smile! 2-3kg thats nothing you could do that in a couple of weeks! I wish thats all I had to lose but one day one day maybe in 12mths I might just be there myself.

hey..I gave up years ago about trying to be a size 10, I like to eat:lmao:....so have learnt to be happy with what the good lord gave me....and I do like having "something" on top...otherwise I'd be a boy:rotfl2:

if we are happy with who we are as people, what we look like on the outside really doesn't count much does it to the ones who care about us (as long as we are healthy)....I just want to be a good person, and if that means I'm a happy size 14, then so be it.

so who wants cake!

OMG those cupcakes are adorable!

I agree with all you've said Karen. I haven't been a size 10 since I was a teenager and I'm quite happy with a healthy size 14 :)

I would love to be a healthy size 14. Still a unhealthy 16-18. Will get there though;)

16-18 is my healthy range, but unfortunately my clothing starts with a 2 at the moment. :sad1::sad2::sad:

my goal is to be in the 16-18 range by next trip.

lots of healthy eating over here this week. have had a b!tc# of a migraine the last 2 days that no nurofen zavance or migraine pills have been able to get rid of. tried sleeping pills, hot showers, massage and exercise and none of it has fixed it. this afternoon had a small cup of diet coke and hey presto... 10 mins later the migraine was down to a dull roar and within 20 mins was gone. seems it may have been a sugar/caffeine withdrawal :confused3

have been really watching my carbs/sugar intake this week. have found that having just an apple & a pear for dinner works for me, and having a slightly larger meal for breakfast keeps me energised through the day, with a small snack for lunch/mid afternoon and helps curb the hunger cravings.

hoping i can keep this binge/sugar/carb/caffeine free habit up for a while... so far it's only been 5 days, but so far, so good :cheer2:

All I want to do is eat chocolate...lots of it :sad1:

Bad day...

Being taken advantage of at work, a place where i'm happy most of the time, hurts.

My good nature at work gets me nowhere...maybe I should be the witch I can be :wave2:

Mine starts with a 2 too:sad2: I have never had a migraine so I don't know what they are like, but from all accounts I have heard they can be just awful. Hope you are feeling better now:flower3:

I have been going so well of late and you wouldn't belive it, but tonight my treadmill decided to die. This is not the first time it has happened and I am very frustrated as I have been going so well and have not missed a day on it for close to 3 weeks.

Going now to check out the local gyms.....good luck with the no sugar/carb etc !!!:)

Maybe we can get together and share the chocloate! I swear it must have been the day for it! A bad day at work AND my treadmill died.......:sad1:

I too am the nice one at work and it just gets me no where sometimes. I find it extremely difficult to be anything but good natured so I may need to find my inner witch too!!!!

Am back on the weightloss wagon again after now shifting about 2 kgs of water weight. God I hate my body and its tendancy to retain water -.- Am feeling less bloated and gluggy now and have finally found a routine at the gym that doesn't leave me crawling out the door! Am going to try and go to the gym 6 days a week, so that I get myself into a routine and also get a rest day :) Have been pretty good at watching what I eat except for having subway for lunch afew times this week which although it is a healthier option, takes up ALOT of my daily calories with the bread, sauce and cheese goodness

Caffeine can help to open the blood vessels (or something!), which helps ease migraines for some sufferers. It could have nothing to do with withdrawals at all, you could just be one of those people that caffeine HELPS in regards to migraines rather than being a trigger :) My old boss was like that too.

3 hours sleep. Bleh. I haven't had to work on 3 hours sleep since my early 20s. Screamy baby who only wanted mummy despite daddy's best efforts. Caffeine. Give me caffeine.

O.k that picture is me in the mornings if I don't have a strong coffee:rotfl2:I have even trained my eldest who is 13 to make mum a coffee using my coffee machine! Otherwise there is no transport to school lol:lmao:

So...please don't judge me :sad2:

I've was talking to my friend this morning who has just joined at the same gym as me. She has a friend who I know through someone else that works at a store that sells sports suppliments. She was telling me about how he has set her up on a protein heavy diet including protein powder and how he also sold her some weight loss suppliments. Now, this store doesn't specialise in suppliments, mearly sells them as an extra. So I was heasitant about them until she told me she's lost 5 kgs since taking them (I don't know when she started) and 2% body fat. I walked down to the store at lunch and ended up buying some. I'm always hesitant with suppliments as so many of them look like a cop out, but these genuienly sound like they work. So i've decided to give them a go. I just feel like suppliments is cheating :confused3 These one's are called 'Advanced Thermogenic" by Leppin Health? Has anyone tried these before??? I hope they're not super bad. I've googled them but so far can only find information off the brands website.

Yeah, the thing I found with protein shakes is that I can't just make them with water like you're supposed to. I have to have them with milk, berries and bananas, just like a normal smoothie. Then I always feel like I've outweighed the goodness by adding so much to it :/

Protein high diet is good! It's what my surgeon has me on for the next 12mths! he says protein first then veggies then fruit and only if u have room then add a little carbs. It's meant to stop muscle loss but encourage fat loss? Prior to my surgery I had to be on those protein shakes for two weeks yuck so glad that bit is over!

I don't mind a protein rich diet and will quite happily have veggies and grilled chicken for lunch so long as I'm organized enough to prepare it the night before hand. I just find it so incredibly filling! I had 2 eggs scrambled on one piece of toast and feel like I'm about to explode! Its a good thing I'm full, I just don't like feeling bloated :( hopefully my body will soon get used to having more protein and will stop inflating like a balloon! Haha!
