getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

Hi all!!
Well, beach walk this morning - tick!.. :thumbsup2
Healthy-ish breakfast - tick .. :thumbsup2
Piece of chocolate cake because I actually woke up feeling like crap with a sore throat - and chocolate cake is the only thing that fixes that, don't you know?? - double tick .. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Oh well, there is always tomorrow. But I see tomorrow as being a couch day if I still feel awful - after the hairdresser's that is!!

BigDisneyOE - I know how you feel with Weight Watchers. I have been going for ages and have lost 6 kgs - I seem to have reached a plateau way too early. But I can be my own worst enemy, which is really my trouble. Must knuckle down and track my food!!

I eat chocolate over my sore throats too. It seems to coat it and take the pain away

so... woke up this morning, went to climb out of my nice high bed, and my back went pop. my sciatica seems to have flared up over the last two days, and my disc has been kinda swollen and then this morning, my muscles spasmed once, and then stopped working and my disc has popped out a little... it's been in full blown spasm all day long, and standing for more than a few minutes hurts, walking hurts, the only thing that seems to work is lying on the couch with one leg off the couch and one leg over the back of the couch, and lying half-twisted.

grrr. this is what happens when i hit the stupid exercise bike too hard too quickly.
i have to learn that slow and steady wins the race and doesn't throw your back out :(

so i'm outta commission for the next few days til i can pop this back into place. i'll be on optifast for the next couple of days to make sure my calorie intake is reduced to make up for the lack of exercise :(

ok so day 1 was fairly successful although I was sooooo hungry by the time I got home from work I lost the plot a bit and had a big slice of bread and a big glass of wine because work had been so suckish.
day 2 started out spectacularly and then I went out for tapas and wine with friends...mmmmm chunks of pork belly yum...
Day 3 all good although I was a bit slow this morning thanks to a wine too many last night so dog and I only did a quick blat around the block so exercise could have been a bit better.
Starting to feel sick, oh joy just what I don't need.

Oh no you poor thing! I am usually a go hard or go home exerciser but am trying to start slowly and work my way up so I don't injure myself - it worked back in January but it is quite frustrating to start with

I hope you're ok :grouphug: this isn't going to get you in more trouble with work is it?

I've tried slimfast or optifast or one of those - can't remember which, but it's the one where you add milk not water. It was really tasty and worked really well, but I stopped using it because too much dairy really messes me up!

Alicia, ayayay :worried:

Me and the big greyhound took another walk this evening, I think I walk too fast for him, he has no stamina :scratchin

We had a free dress day at work today and it was nice to have my jeans on and them not be as tight.

And my DH gave me lovely backhanded compliment yesterday LOL "I can see where your bum finishes and your legs start".
Oh darling you're too good to me :duck:

As I walk I just keep thinking, hips free of armrest marks!

Oh Alicia - you are in the wars! I hope you are feeling better soon.
I've got some full blown clod/flu infection rubbish - I hate feeling like this!
One good thing - I have no interest in food whatsoever! I could put onto one plate what I have eaten in the last 3 days. Usually when I feel like this I stand in front of the fridge and inhale I get so hungry!!
Hope everyone else is going well! I think I'm on hold for a few more days yet!!!

I'm back to a crappy lunch today :headache: I had to buy some groceries so I didn't get as much time at home for lunch. So packet of chips and some crackers with cheesy bite...

I did buy a bunch of manderins though, so I'm taking those back to the office and I'll snack on a couple of those throughout the afternoon.

ok
started well
porridge, then fruit
pumpkin soup and 2 bread for lunch
then........

handful of biscuits just now with a coffee..its too damn cold to eat heathy:confused3

builders come tomorrow to turn my wonderful garage into a grannie flat for our DS2 +GF.....no wonder I want to eat:scared1:

Bec, you are making me jealous of country living - you get to buy groceries and go home to eat in your lunch break!!

Think of us suburban dwellers who travel for sometimes over an hour to get to our office! :headache: Forty minutes on a good day but those are few and far between!

I do believe thats a dole whip!!

That is GOLD!

I was trying to decide whether to throw all of my good habits of the day down the drain by having icecream with a smashed up crunchie and chocolate topping, but now I think I'll just have a cup tea instead. Thanks for the visual therapy, :lmao:

Yeah I know it's awesome! I leave home at 8:50am to start work at 9am :goodvibes If it makes you feel better, I've done my time at the over an hour commute to work, I used to live at Glenwood out past Castle Hill in Sydney and I worked in the city - that was a pain in the ***! Then I was lucky enough to get a job at West Pennant Hills, still a trek, but usually came in under the hour.

Now I've made my choice and I'm sticking with it - no more long distance driving twice a day for me!! :woohoo:

I do believe thats a dole whip!!

Bwahahahahahahaha!!! :lmao:

had the joy of all stations westmead to warrawee this morning..oh god, thats 1.5 hrs of this life i wont get back....at least it wasnt freezing....and the train was warm, and no one smelt:thumbsup2

had a crunchie for dessert tonight.....i'll start my diet again tomorrow:scared1: DH has lost 4 kgs....but i am not living on poached chicken and lettuce!

see, i looked at that dole whip photo, and i was like... omg. omg. omg. i really don't want to end up like that.

so as of tomorrow it's boiled eggs and steamed veges and yoghurt and water only for me ladies. i'm going hard core. this means i might turn into maleficent's fire breathing dragon and become a little witchy, but ... i need to do something drastic....

oh, and i have this many (154) days left til i get on that plane. argh!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

today is a good day to start my diet...

All is well in my soul...all is well

so i went to the doc today and had a post-surgery check up. immediately after the surgery i was dancing on the inside. i was pain free & all was right with my world -- except for the gaping wounds, and they would eventually close. since then i've had problems with milk solids, especially full fat milk, cheese and icecream, although yoghurt was ok. so i've been living on skim/soy milk and nothing has really altered with my life except no more pain. so life was good.

or so i thought... i have noticed over the past few weeks a few symptoms creeping in. at first, it was a one off occurence, then it was once or twice a week, then every day, then mulitple times a day... i was trying to avoid it, but i, like so many others who have undergone the whole cholecystectomy procedure, have developed a rather nasty syndrome that i really, really wish i hadn't.:sick:

i feel great in so many ways. healthier and pain free and these are all good things. i am so eternally glad that i had the procedure and the wonderful people at my local qld health public hospital treated me with urgency, attention and a great deal of care...

but now that really restrictive, really boring, no anything but steamed veges and an occasional egg & maybe some yoghurt if i'm good diet that i was to go on?? that is my life now. i can't eat the other stuff or else i'll get really, really sick.

am i prepared to pay the price of not following this diet? no i am not. no matter how yummy the food or how sad it is to have to do this... so.... i am to eat the boring, bland, stuff for the rest of my life. and on holidays and so on i can eat the bad stuff in really small portions and not very often.. and not a huge lot of it or i will get really, really sick.:sick:

the good thing is, this really restrictive diet is not only good for my post-gallbladder removal treatment, it's good for my PCOS and it's good for my weight management. so win-win right?? :yay:

god. i'm gonna miss you pop tarts. and potato crisps. and cake. oh, and pasta. and pizza. and milk solids i think i will miss you most of all. :sad1:

So far, so good (except for today and a little bit yesterday, slept in, too late to eat breakfast, then had a banana and a chorizo), haven't drank any water but my saving grace is I did go for a walk, hey it's better than nothing.

Yesterday was emotionally exhausting, but I managed to stay away from most of the sweet stuff (toblerone triangle anybody?).

So back onto it this week, feeling alot better about myself, less rolls, less gape on clothing, and feeling more energetic most of the time.

Bought two new summer tops at Just Jeans for the warm weather in Orlando :thumbsup2
