getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

You will get there alicia1506, especially if you can't have milk and limited diary options. At least you won't be having cream over your ice-cream lol!

omg. i can eat pretty much anything. except dairy. i can't have milk solids. or at least, i can't have regular milk solids, so no full cream milk. no icecream (omg, the horror). no cream. no sour cream. i can drink soy milk and i can drink really, really, really skim milk.

if i eat these foods, it's a linda-blair tribute to exorcist level vomiting within minutes... and then i just have pain afterwards

lol. surprisingly, i can still have yoghurt, provided it is a diet/skim yoghurt, or a traditional greek yoghurt. i think it has something to do with the bacteria in it. some cheese i can eat, but glorious regular cheese like camembert, brie, vintage, sharp cheddar etc (which i adore and would consume all day if i was able) just give me pain and horrible bloating and pain, or the linda blair tribute scenario.

some green veges like broccoli give me some pain, but to be honest it's 90% milk that is my big issue... and since i have low calcium levels, i'm having to take supplements as my big glass of milk a day habit is no longer able to be endured :confused3

i had a tiny sliver of cheesecake for my birthday, and i had a tiny sliver of my sister's icecream cake (what, i couldn't say no, it was birthday cake :rolleyes1) and by sliver, i mean like... only about a centimetre wide... and omg the pain the icecream caused and the instant bloating was just horrendous. i actually think i've got a little too much bile in my system, as i tend to throw up if something doesn't agree with me, rather than the other options :)

my biggest issue after the surgery is (possibly TMI for others) i have some nasty looking scars that i'm really not happy about, and because they had to cut through my stomach muscles and didn't tell me about my limitations after the surgery, my stomach is now shaped slightly differently and i have a sort of pouchy gut that sits lower than it has ever done before... really unhappy and really motivated to get rid of it (if possible) through my diet and exercise regime right now...

The scars will fade in time, takes about 12mths for them to start to fade. If you ain't planning on wearing a bikini then don't worry about them! They go red, then a blue sort of a colour after about 6mths then a silver colour:hug:

I had a c-section and as a result 6 years later I have very little scarring but my stomach fat sits weird, and one side sits lower than the other, it actually sounds a little like yours.
Hopefully I can get rid of the fat so it doesn't just hang there...

Oh bec, I am so glad you said that about your tummy. I've had 2 caesars and my fat doughy belly is lopsided as well - one side sits higher than the other. When I look in the mirror  i sort of lean to one side to try and make it look even, lol!

I'm not quite a candidate for Embarrassing Bodies (yet), but it is a bit strange. Thank god for big undies!!

Happy Monday everyone!! :thumbsup2
After working 7 early shifts straight, I am now on 4 wonderful days off!! :cool1:
I plan on heading out for a walk as soon as I get off this computer!! Then I'm heading to Maleny (Sunshine Coast hinterland) to visit a friend for lunch - and I'm hoping to find a healthy option for that.
Then off to visit my parents who live at Peregian Beach - so the plan will be a beach walk tomorrow morning!! That is my favourite!
Glad to hear everyone is keeping going - winter is a hard time for me! And I know we hardly get a winter at all here, but it's all relative. I just hate the colder weather and it is so easy to curl up on the couch with a book or movie than get moving outside. My house is just so small I can't even fit in an exercise bike without it getting in the way, so I have to head outside.
OK - Charlotte (my dog) is looking at me willing me to get goin, so we are off!
Enjoy your day today! Good work everyone!! :thumbsup2:banana:

ok so taking a page out of the lite n easy book and imitating their portion sizes and low gi healthy options, breakfast this morning was a whole wheat wrap with mushrooms, bacon and eggs (it's better if i have all my protein in the morning) with a really small serve of berries and yoghurt. i brought my snacks with me today, i have a small pink lady apple and 2 x small mandarins. hopefully these will help me stave off the hunger and sugar cravings.

i had some fresh berry juice this morning, so now it's on to water, water, water for the rest of the day.

Morning all.

A horrible weekend for me, but that's another story:scared1:

So today ( said in a very positive tone ! ), I have my yoghurt and fruit and a determination to get back on that treadmill:thumbsup2

Goal is to be under what my weight was on Saturday by next Saturday:rotfl:

I have Disney On Ice that day too so sort of using it as mini motivation. I have found that "Minnie" ( pardon the pun !!! ) goals work best for me.

Have a great day:flower3:

ministroni soup & sugar free red bull-lunch
lamb stew, 2 slices sour-dough bread & diet coke/ coffee -dinner

game of squash tonight so that should burn a few carbs:thumbsup2

wish me luckpopcorn::

I don't eat breakfast on weekdays, I don't really have time (I have to have medication half an hour before eating, and I use that half an hour to get ready for work - which means brushing my teeth etc.) so I don't bother eating until morning tea.

Usually that's either an apple or a mandarin, this morning it might just be chocolate... :rolleyes1

squash... no wonder you look younger than me -- that's one heck of a way to keep fit :)

i've just had my first apple & mandarin snack. feeling pretty happy with myself for not giving in to the birthday morning tea they have provided for me which is on a table right freaking behind me :scared1: stupid contact centre and all their baked goodies!!

No breakfast today :headache:

Had sumo salad for lunch with water, about to walk to school for school pickup :thumbsup2

Stomach is gurgling away...I think it's the water ::yes::

i was supposed to just have a protein shake for lunch, but i feel like i'm coming down with the flu... i purchased some yummy organic chicken noodle soup for lunch, just a really small serve, but enough to warm me and keep the calories down.

mandarin for afternoon tea. and i've just been on water & 1 x 375 ml coke zero today.

bonus.

now to go home at 4.30 and work my tushie off.

School pickup 40 minute walk!

YAY

I'll do something else later, maybe some pushups and situps after dinner.

Went to Chadstone today and resisted Baskin Robbins and Mrs Fields!

I'll save the indulgence for 12 weeks away!

lol that is also my problem.. trying to retrain my brain from 'oh, i guess it wouldn't hurt' to 'if i don't have it now, i can have a konk kooler on CC' or 'i can have dessert at remy' etc.

plus, think of the money we'll save not buying those extra treats :)

just got hit in the side of the face with a rugby ball by a yr 7 kid with no dirction, possible tooth loose, just as well it wasn't the side of the dry socket..I hate my life...:offtopic:

:( I've lost count....does this make it the third time? If so, your run of physical bad luck should be over.

Hope you feel better and that tooth stays firm, not loose.
