On our trip in December my DS will be 2 weeks shy of a year old and I would like for his first haircut to be in the MK. Has anyone had their child's first haircut there? How did it go?

Both my son and daughter had their first haircuts at Disney. They do a great job! We take them back every trip, it's become a tradition for us :) I definately recommend it for the first haircut.

Make sure you go as early as you can or during the parades since it can get crowded. It's first come - first served. The hours are usually 9-5 (but we've been able to get in at 8:45 during EMH)

Both my kids, as well as most others, did fine with it, but not every kid does. We have seen a few meltdowns but for the most part the children do well. (Some parents really stress about it but, I think the meltdowns make for a really cute video and pic for when they get older. :) )The CM's are experts at distraction and having fun with them. They usually give them a toy to play with and/or a ton of Mickey stickers. My son was 14 months (now almost 6 already :sniff: ) for his first and laughed hysterically the whole time! The CM was laughing along with him.

They get a First Haircut certificate, the CM will wrap the hair in a tissue w/ Mickey Sticker and give the child Mickey Ears w/ First Haircut on the back. Then they give you a chance to take some cute pics.

Apparently, not all the CM's know about this either. LOL When we got DD's 1st haircut in June we were walking down Main Street and she had her "ears" on. A CM came up to us and said "Wow! Your daughter's name is so long! What is it?" DH told her "First Haircut".....she looked at him funny for a minute and then realized what he meant

Not their 1st haircut but DS & DH had their hair cut there. We are leaving in 3 days and DH, DS & DD are planning on getting their haircut. It's alot of fun. If you're worried, maybe you could have your DH get his haircut at the same time. They will put color & glitter in it also.

We did this in July and it was so much fun. We were there during EMH, but wanted to take advantage of the rides. We went in after a late lunch and there was no wait for either of the hairdressers/barbers.

My son was 13 months old when we first brought him to Disney and we had his 1st professional haircut done while we were there. He looked adorable and I must say they do an amazing job. We went in October and were able to walk right in without a wait at about 2PM mid-week. They covered him in stickers and gave him a toy to play with and he was entertained the entire time he was in the chair. I have great photos and they give you a certificate and a clipping of hair for your scrapbook. They also gave Mouse Ears with "First Haircut" embroidered on the back which is a great keepsake. The cost was about $30 with the tip which I think is fairly cheap considering the photos and memories you are walking away with.

Anyway, it's a great photo opportunity and, if you decide to do it, have a great time!

My Ds's are getting their 1st haircuts when we go down. I am hoping I can get it done before MNSSHP on our first night there. My DS will have his very first ever haircut at 4, almost 5. LOL!! Took him forever to grow hair! He even has all his baby curls that will be cut off. Both my boys will lose their baby curls!

Great advice but my husband shaves his head.

I can't wait - my DH keeps saying he needs his hair cut now but I keep saying no way not until Disney. Thanks everyone!

Where exactly is the barber shop? We were planning on bringing our DS in for his first haircut.

I don't know how to explain but it's near the entrance. Once you enter MK and walk under the railroad, go to the left, about 1/3 of the way around the circle, it's kinda back in the corner. It's called Main Street Barbour (I think). It's small.

It's next to the firehouse and the stables where the parades enter/exit Main Street. As you are walking in it is on the left hand side of the street, left of the Emporium.

Well then, you should get a trim! Please don't tell me you shave your head too! :rotfl2:

Both my boys have wild unmanagable hair and I keep telling them the same thing! I had to gel that hair down quite a bit for school pictures last week! We leave next week and I am headig strait to MK for haircuts so the vacation pictures are nice. We didn't get cuts till like 1/2 way through the trip and I cringe when I see those scraggly heads in some of the pics. I hear they are not busy during the afternoon parade, we're going to try then.

I got dd's first haircut there in Nov of 04 when she had just turned 2. They gave her a nice certificate and mickey ears saying first birthday. During the cut they occupied her with stickers and bubbles. They sprinkled her with pixie dust afterwards but no color thank goodness. Her older sister who was 11 and my brother in law who was 13 at the time got there hair done with color and a mickey head and pixie dust and loved the attention they got from everyone all day.

It was magical! She still talks about it and it was nearly a year ago! We went there straight from opening as we were advised that once they run out of ears they have none for the rest of the day.

The price was good too

DS had his first and second cuts there. They are great with kids and he never really realized what was going on. They are able to keep them distracted enough to keep them from moving and are very quick about it so they don't get restless. I would definately recommend it.

We got our DD's 1st haircut in May by Michal. He was fabulous! We have a ton of pictures from the haircut and our older daughters color and glitter on our disney page about half way down. It was $14 for Molly's 1st haircut, quite a bargain as she got ears and a certificate!

Disney Trip

I am so excited to hear how fun the first haircut at Disney is. My DD will be 19 mo and I have never cut any of her hair - it is growing out of control. To add to the problem she absolutely hates anything in her hair so ponies and clippies are pulled out within minutes of being put in!

Less than a month until she has a cute haircut at Disney, I can make it, I can make it! (I'm serious when I say her hair is everywhere!)
