Hi,

I have two large styes in one eye and the doctor is going to surgurically remove them. The doctor told me that he's done this thousands of times.

Of course, I'm anxious. I haven't met anyone that has this procedure done.

Could you share me your experience please?

I have never had any lanced .I had one a few weeks ago and the doctor told me to use a warm tea bag frequently to the eye and it was gone in a day. It is worth a try.

They don't actually cut it out when they lance it, more a piercing like a puncture so it can drain and heal. I had styes as a kid a lot, some required lancing. My mom had them too, don't have any idea why. It didn't hurt and was more a relief from the pressure of the stye after it was done. Once it was lanced I healed quickly. We're talking 30 years ago, things may have changed!

I had this done twice about 5 years ago. It was pretty gross and uncomfortable, but not unbearable.

The Dr. numbed the area (which stung quite a bit) and used something to hold my eye open. He then made a very tiny slice in my lower eyelid, and took what looked to be the worldest smallest melon baller and scooped out the nasty globby stuff that had hardened in the sty.

It only took a few minutes. I think I was a little more uptight at the second one, and got a little queasy. I also don't like people so close up in my face.

Good luck.
