Getting Extra Fastpass+ after you use the first 3. Questions.

really because of FP+ ..

1. how did it cause this? If that's the case

2. then Fast Pass plus kinda stinks doesn't it?

1. Disney has now added FP+ to attractions that never used to need any kind of FP.
Guests have been prompted to choose three advance FP+ (many of whom have no idea the relative importance/necessity of FP at any given attraction) are booking these "lesser" attractions, therefore slowing down the standby lines.

2. Some of us here have that opinion, yes.

I might not need to get them anyways.. last time I went was in 2011 before FP+ .. for example EPCOT according to touring plans was going to be 5/10. And when we arrived in the afternoon there was NO line for spaceship earth. Now touring plans says EPCOT is going to be a 4/10 - but it's saying the line for spaceship earth in the afternoon is going to be 20 min long! That doesn't seem to match my first experience. I'm hoping to walk in and see no line at spaceship earth.
I think a 4 now days might be equal to a 6 or 7 in 2011 as far as people in the parks. I beleive the numbers are relative to one another, not a set number of people in the parks.

The numbers (at least on many sites) relate to the standby wait times at attractions.

As to whether they have had to adjust the numbers (since we are still trying to fit into a "one-thru-ten" scale) is unknown (but, it is likely that they have been adjusted.)

well that stinks.. you'd think after seeing FP+ in action they would take note of this and remove certain rides like spaceship earth from FP+ to get it back to the lower line levels that it used to be.

There are so many things wrong with FP+, just doing that wouldn't help all that much.

In general I don't like the 4th fast pass system as it gives distinct advantage to the people who CAN and CHOOSE to have all their fast passes scheduled for the morning hours. I did that on my last trip and was able to easily get my 4th, 5th and 6th fast passes (though some for "minor" rides (which we didn't care because we had a toddler). But if my 3rd fast pass wasn't until 4:00 PM? I would probably would have had to wait in lines with an antsy toddler.

We were there last week and made early FP+ because we tend to go at RD and head back to resort in the early afternoon. Even with early FP+, getting a decent 4th FP+ was impossible and it wasn't even busy last week! We rode far fewer rides than we ever have because with FP+, every attraction now has a wait, even those that were walk ons before. And, no Disney's plan to get us to spend more money didn't work - I bought absolutely nothing all week because their merchandise has gone downhill so much.

which is then what?

It's meant to reduce overall time waiting in line and disburse crowds, and Spaceship Earth is a testament to how well it's accomplishing its goal. There are lines now where no lines existed, and the standby lines for the headliners have decreased. So maybe you have a 20 minute line at SE but only a 60 minute line at Soarin, which is better (in Disney's eyes) than a 90 minute line at Soarin" and no line at SE.

Hence, the FP+ alien.

Sorry, but I am able to use the mobile app to book my 4th, 5th, etc. Fast Passes after using my first three. I have had no issues doing this as of recently. I just do this:

1. Use the original three Fast Passes as normal
2. Go to the app and try to schedule more Fast Passes
3. It says you have "conflicts" would you like to resolve (paraphrasing here)
4. I say yes and continue to book more Fast Passes
5. Done. More Fast Passes without going to a kiosk, etc.

All it does is replace/delete the originals ones you've already used and replaces them with the new ones you just booked. I do this all the time with no issues.

I was in MK during Easter week. It was a solid 9 or 10 crowd level.
I used my 3 FPs in the morning and then got FPs for Buzz, Laugh Floor and Philharmagic (the last was a paper FP that the CM at the kiosk handed me). These are obviously not top tier attractions, but during Easter week it was quite nice to not have to wait for them. Laugh Floor was a 40 minute wait, I think Buzz was an hour... Even Philharmagic was 30 minutes... So it can help.

Really? If we can get a couple of corroborating Diser's to confirm this ... It would be a huge breakthrough!
Have you been able to do this for a park other than the ones your original FPs are for?

Yes. But I would say touring is "different" with FP+, not that it "stinks". But that's my opinion. Some love FP+, some hate FP+, some live with it, and others are blissfully unaware of what FP+ is.

Basically, most attractions at WDW are now FP+ attractions, meaning they can be reserved up to 60 (WDW resort guests) or 30 (offsite guests) days ahead. So the addition of a FP+ entrance means those guests have priority over the standby line. This has led to increased standby wait times across the board (mostly). It also means you will spend significantly less time in line for those "headliner" attractions for which you have a FP+. No more waiting 180 minutes for Sparin'.

So there are + and - to FP+.

In my mind, a 20 minute standby line has always meant ride now!

And this is not to say that there aren't walk on rides any longer. Come at RD or tour within the last few hours of park closing. You'll be fine.

Planning to do four parks in one day for a trip in June. Does anyone know if I can split my original 3 fast passes between multiple parks or do I have to book and use 3 at one park before getting another FP in another park (i.e. want to use Toy Story and TOT in HS and then try for something else in EPCOT - even if I have to wait until I get to EPCOT and go to a kiosk)?

The prebooked FPs must be in the same park. You don't necessarily have to use them all, but their windows must have all passed in order to be able to go to Epcot and get one there at a kiosk. (Or, I think you can just cancel the third one .... AFTER you ride the first two, but check MesaBoy's link for that kind of detail ....)
