On Sept 22 I will be heading to WDW with my girlfriend and am planning on asking her the big question in the Magic Kingdom during Wishes fireworks. Here is where I need some help...

1) What do you all recommend for the best place to ask her the question? I do not want to be in the middle of 1000 people on Main Street and no room to get down on one knee...

2) Is there a certain point during the fireworks when you would ask? When does "When you wish upon a Star" start? About how far in?

I have thought about other ways to propose, but during the Wishes fireworks is what I know she would love most. She is anxious to get engaged, but she has no idea that I will be asking her then... Any tips or advice on where is the best place to ask the question and when during Wishes would be a huge help. I have been to Disney many times, but not in over 6 years and never with her...

Thanks!

P.S. The ring is a 1.12 CT Round Center with .82 CT Total Weight round channel cut down the sides set in Platinum so just a hair under 2 CT - hope she will like it! I have to wait a couple of more weeks until it comes in - had to order the mounting in her size...

I was there a few weeks ago and I thought it was very crowded along Main St. I'm sure someone here on the boards can help you out.If you don't already have it there is a "Wishes" CD that may help you. It's also a nice keepsake. We did a "Wishes" cruise, and we loved it.It was the best part of my trip. The ring sounds beautiful ! I know she'll love it.Good luck and congratulations!

My fiance proposed during Wishes as well. We were on a bridge to the right of the castle (near TomorrowLand) and he had me make a wish (I wished that he would propose, obviously!) and throw a penny in the water just as the music started and when I turned around, he was down on one knee just as the first fireworks were going off and he made my wish come true! This was a great spot because we had enough people around us to clap, but not so many that we felt crowded. Personally, I don't remember the people around us clapping, but my fiance promises they did, I was too distracted by him!

Thanks for the feedback so far... I have thought about on the beach in front of the Polynesian or Grand Floridian, but I know the place with the biggest impact to her would be in the Magic Kingdom... Thanks for tip about on the bridge to Tomorrow Land. Only question about that would be should I be ver concerned about being near the bridge with a diamond ring in my hand so close to the water?

The other thing that might be nice is if you book a wishes firework cruise for just the two of you. You can arrange to have champagne on ice, a rose etc.. and its really lovely an romantic out on the lake with all the lights and the fireworks. Plus you get a great view of the Castle. Just a suggestion?

ok .. this is what you need to do. On this website (www.wdwinfo.com) there is a link to a video of wishes show. Watch that and you can see exactly where you wanna do it.
( you gotta click on parks, magic kingdom, parades and fireworks, then Wishes)
You'll find a good spot in the middle of it to do it! good luck...

try proposing at cinderella's wishing well (to the right of the castle from mainstreet usa or from the left of the castle from the rear carousel area). its rarely crowded there during the fireworks as everyone heads in front of the castle & on mainstreet usa.

i would also look into renting a pontoon or the grand1yacht for a specialty fireworks cruise from the gf which gives a great view from out on the lake & also takes you for a spin on the lagoon & the electrical water pagaent. you can also clue in your driver & give a one time use camera to him to take a picture when you go down & propose which is a great momento.

best wishes!

OMG that is so romantic. I love it. Congrats. :)
I think that 1,000 people on Main street but you are the only two that matter. Good Luck - Keep up posted. And you might want to see if Disney would take your photo at "the Moment!"

I think it really depends on the girl. i think it is very sweet and romantic by the castle, but for me I would not be comfortable with all the people around. if you wamt to do it it at wishes to it on a bridge were there are less people (everyone gravitates toward the center by the castle) and before wishes...tinkerbelle14 story is soooo sweet! My fiancee just proposed during wishes but it was on the beach at the polynesian resort. it was very intimate and sweet and he had the help from a woman at DFTW set stuff up (she even offered to set up a picnic on the beach at sunset point.... were he proposed) We had both seen the wishes show many times (and own the sountrack :rotfl: ) so for us the quitness was nice and beautiful.

Thanks again for all of the feedback everyone. I was watching the Wishes Fireworks online here on wdwinfo.com and I think the point I like best is when the song "When you Wish Upon a Star" first starts... Sounds like to two best places that are not in the middle of a crowd but still in the magic kingdom are by the wishing well near the carousel or the bridge to tomorrowland. Asking her in the Magic Kingdom is definitely where I plan on asking the big question... Hard to believe it is just about a month away!

Any other suggestions are welcomes - such as the best way to keep the ring safe while I am in the MK from around 3 PM to closing! No doubt we will be going on Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain. Luckily they do not have any loops. Any suggestions on how best to secure the ring while keeping it hidden? Also have to keep it with me yet hidden going through security at the airport... Thanks!

Contact Jane at www.giftsofalifetime.com and she can help you as she helped my DS propose to his Dfi this past June. They did it near Cinderella's wishing well and had a very complex program to follow to get her there!!!!! Afterwards, they had dinner at Tony's Townsquare Cafe (she loves Lady and the Tramp) and then had a private Wishes cruise with champagne and tuxedo strawberries (yes, they are dipped in white and brown chocolate and look like strawberries wearing little tuxedos!). Contact Jane ASAP - she should be able to help you - she gave my DS three different scenarios to choose from!

How sweet you are!! We just got engaged during wishes last week!!! We had dinner at the California Grille atop the Contemporary. You have the most wonderful view and they pipe the music in from the show. You could call ahead and let them know so they had champangne and flowers or something. The cruise is a great idea or the quiet little area to the left of the castle near the bridge to adventure land. Just across from the Crystal Palace. I hope you have a wonderful trip and memorable proposal!
Wear some cargo shorts with the side pockets on the leg that button closed-thats where my fiance hid my ring all day.

I am going to WDW in Nov. and would like to pop the question to my GF. I love the idea of the wishes firework cruise. Can you give me more information about this? If not can you direct me to the right place?

Thanks,

Stu

You can book a wishes firework cruise 90 days in advance - they open at 7am so you need to get on the phone as early as poss to get one. You need to phone Disney - im sorry but i dont have the number with me. If you also say your planning on proposing they can arrange pretty much anything you want! Go on the www.disney.com website and you can get the phone numbers on there!

There is also a post in the Theme park attactions and strategies that has lots of information

I think you should do it at the end of Wishes, not half way thru.

Watch the fireworks together, enjoy the emotion of how wonderful they are and then maybe whilst the final fireworks are going off, and she is busy looking up, get down on one knee so when she looks at you, you will be down there waiting to propose.

OMG - I have gone cold!
That is the most romantic thing I have ever heard.
What a dream proposal.

She is a very, very, VERY lucky girl.

Good luck with it.

 I echo the vote of an earlier poster that the Cali Grill is THE place. Why? Because that's where i proposed to my now wife. I called the restaurant ahead of time and they were very helpful. I arranged it so after dinner and we had ordered dessert, the server brought the ring out on a plate in a Cinderella jewelry box i had ordered online and shipped to the restaurant. They placed it on the plate with a glass slipper i had engraved with our names and the date and also had delivered to the resort. It was brought out 5 minutes before wishes started, giving me time to drop to one knee and propose. We were seated next to the window with her facing the castle. As the server approached the table the restaurant got very quiet with the patrons knowing something was happening. She said yes, the place went wild with applause, people congratulated us. Just then the lights dimmed, the music started and we watched wishes in a darkened California Grill with the fireworks right over Cinderella's castle. Staff took pictures of us and were amazing in all the help they provided (especially since Disney wisdom led them to close their engagement department). It could not have been more magical and was as she put it, the engagement of her dreams. Now I have My Princess and an incredible memory.

As for ring hiding tips, i placed the ring without it's box in a film canister in a zippered side pocket of a video camera bag. I put a quarter in the bottom to give it weight and to simulate the sound of a roll of film if she found the canister and held it. I wrapped the ring in tissue paper inside and taped the top shut with a note saying it was my mom's film since we were using her video camera. It worked great other than me checking the zipper every 15 seconds to make sure it was secured :rolleyes1 . Add the fact that I proposed on day 3 of the vacation meaning the ring had been on SM, RNR and BTMRR :earseek: ! I simply discreetly had my wife go to look at the view and handed the film canister to the check-in attendant at the Grill who knew exactly what to do. A lot of planning went into this but she's worth every second.

Good luck and may you both live long and happily :earsboy:

If you're set on proposing at Wishes do it before or after. Remember the park gets really dark and she wouldn't be able to admire the ring. My DF was going to do that but at the last minute decided to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. We lucked out with a last minute reservation and got a table by the window overlooking the courtyard. It was perfect. We had dinner and then enjoyed wishes holding each other. Whatever you decide will be amazing. Just being in that atmosphere makes everything special.
