Getting Engaged at Disney?

Hello! New person here with a very important question. My girlfriend and I, along with our best friend, are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in June of 2012. Of course, amidst all of this planning I have something special I'd like to plan as well.

Namely, I'd like to propse to her. I know the where already (by the wishing well, during the fireworks) as that holds special meaning to her, but I was hoping to hear stories from others about how things go at Disney for same-sex couples who have Just Engaged. I've found lots of stories about couples wearing the 'Just Engaged' buttons getting special attention from CMs and the like and wondered if that held true and if those buttons were still available and from where.

I believe, just like the birthday, anniversary, just married, and first timer pins, the just engaged pins are available from the Guest Relations office at the front of each park - you just have to tell them your special event and they will be happy to give you pins.

I'm proposing on the Safari Africa Trek in December. I have quite a bit of history with doing romantic things at WDW with my ex and current bf as well. All I can say is you shouldn't have any issue, especially with CMs. You can get the buttons from guest relations(ahead of time if you want!) and stuff them away, ready to display proudly after the proposal.

Occasionally a guest might look weirdly or something, but I am quite confident you'll be fine with the CMs, and many times you will indeed get a little bit of extra treatment from us. I know I always look for same-sex couples on my boats, but sadly not many will wear anniversary or engagement buttons. Wear it proud, cuz you never know when a CM might be family and do something special for you.

Thanks for the info! I hope to pick them up from guest services (if I can sneak off without her being suspicious) before if nothing else but I'm sure trying to get them after the fireworks that night might be a hassle.

Also, I'm very glad to hear about the "family" amongst the CMs. Hopefully we'll cross some of their paths during our trip!
