Getting dropped off and checking in without hubby

We are thinking of having hubby drop us off (me and two kids) at the port, along with some luggage, then having him take the rental car (National) to the appropriate place and get a ride back to port. Can I check in without him, or does he need to be there in person to check in? Will we get a place in "Line" so that we can board sooner even if he has to check in by himself a little while later? Thanks!

Other poster have done this and I belive you DH needs to show his ID to pick up the KTTW card.

I drop off the family and returned the car. They held a place in line and when I got back DW and I checked in while the kids stayed in line.

Make sure he has his ID when he returns back to the terminal because he will be checked again from the list of passengers.

Do you board the ship in the order that you check in or is it a separate line you have to stand in?

He will need to have a photo id to be allowed back into the terminal. If you have already gone through the check-in process, you will just have to take him upto the same CM that checked you in & they will give him his KTTW card.

I have read that some CM's will just give you his KTTW card, but that did not happen with us.

Enjoy your cruise!!

You will have to get in a separate line to wait to board.

I have done this 3 times and it works great. DH drops us off at the terminal with the luggage. We go in and I get in the check in line while DS's watch the videos or explore the terminal. When I turn in my documents the CM makes up the KTTW card for DH and holds it at their station. When DH arrives he goes to the CM that is holding his card and waits until they are finished with their current guest and then just steps up and shows his ID and gets his card. You have to get in another line to board the ship, but it moves pretty quickly once boarding starts.

The above post is a very good description of the process. Just be sure that he keeps his photo ID in order to get back into the port. When he arrives, he flags you down in the boarding line, and you tell him which line to get in for the CM who has already made up his KTTW. He doesn't have to wait in line again...just wait for the person being currently served to finish. Then he joins you in the boarding line.

Just curious... won't people think you're cutting in line?

We've done it twice and because it takes about 12 seconds for dh to pick up his KTTW, it hasn't been an issue. He would somewhat "lurk" right next to the person checking in and before the CM could say "next", he would get up there.

It wasn't an issue at all for him.

I also went ahead to check in without my husband. The only problem I had was when she asked if I had all my forms, Birth Certificates, ID and the credit card we were going to use. Well, my husband had the credit card. I was a little worried, but didn't want to get out of line. So I figured if I had to I would use a different card than the one we had planned to use. But luckly my husband showed up before she asked for it.
