Getting close to Purchasing 500 points

Thanks for all your help. I think we are going to stick to VDH and split the points. Maybe in the future look at PVB or another WDW property. We do Disneyland at least twice a year.

Thanks again for suggestion splitting the points I would have missed that.
Just make sure at least 1 of the contracts is at least 150 points!

I think it definitely makes a difference what room type you plan to typically book. We usually stay in 1BR villas at VDH and 2BR villas VGC (at least until their refurb depending on the Murphy bed situation). Those rooms are a lot of points, and we have over 300 points each at VDH and VGC and are still constantly all borrowed out since we go to DLR multiple times a year. So if you mainly go to DLR, I think it makes sense to have more points at DLR since the 11 month booking window really does matter there.

Thank you I love the idea of PVB.
I think it depends on how often you plan on going to WDW. If you don't go every year and you go to DL more often you may want more points at VDH. I like VGF better than Poly, but I think poly is a better location for Epcot and better monorail to MK.

If the contracts are in the same use year, they don’t have to be that large to my understanding. You just need to always keep 150 total points direct in the same use year.

This is true but if you do smaller contracts, you always have to keep more than one.

Say you make them 100 point contracts, you will need to keep two of them.

It also goes by minimum when the contract is bought so if you fall below the 150 with the initial points, you have to then buy more if that is now different.

It’s why we didn’t split our VGf contracts. They all are 150 and stay eligible, no matter what we decide to do later on.

But if you ever sell one or split between heirs - you could be SOL -

Welcome to this adventure. Seems like you are going to jump in with both feet. Perhaps we’ll see you in the DVC comma club soon :)

A few things to consider. We are also a “west coast” family but becoming DVC members has changed how we view the parks and making it over to Florida and WDW has rapidly moved up in importance for us. I don’t think WDW will replace Disneyland Report as our happy place, but Orlando and especially WDW + Universal there is a killer combo. Plus DVC at WDW is just a whole different experience. You may find you will want to make more trips east after becoming a member. In a strange twist for us we don’t have DLR Magic Keys right now but we do have WDW APs…..

Another thing to consider, if you get lucky and prices/discounts on Poly and VDH link up and are the same/similar you may be able to mix together the promotions and buy both at the same time. I have a friend who is considering doing something similar and buying a mix of 500+ points at Riviera and VDH and we have made some inquiries that this “could be” possible.
