getting beer from garden grocer

Forgive me...I'm new. I've learned about Garden Grocer.com from here...thank you all!

I see that some of you have ordered beer and wine, but when I go to the website, I can't find it! Any tips on how to order? Is it best to order online before you go?

I learned through reading threads that most people have just typed in the extra stuff they wanted in the comments field when the checkout from the site. I did the same thing a few days ago for my order and I'm going to call before I leave to make sure it's OK.

This is exactly what we did and had no problems. We ordered beer and smirnoff twisters.

We were not at the resort when our items got delivered. As soon as we checked in we were told we had a delivery. On the bill we had a message to call them. The reason for the call was to give them a second authorization for our credit card. This was due to the fact that the items listed in the comments section did not have a price at the time of the order. It was very easy, we will use them again in the future.

Do you have to specify what brand you want? If so what's a good brand? I'm from Canada and I don't think your grocery stores carry Moosehead.

I'm wondering this same thing...I'm up north and I'm sure the brands are different. I guess if you type it in the comments will they just tell you if they can't get that kind?

Also - is it a set delivery charge or does it vary based on order total?

I just ordered yesterday and the delivery charge is $12.00. It is one set fee. It's free if you order over $200.

Moosehead is pretty widely available in the States and I am sure they would call you if it isn't available.

I included my tip according to the cost of the beer so we don't have to worry about that either. I tipped well but hope they understand when they make the delivery I am not tipping again. I may have to call beforehand to remind them.

I have not rec'd any confirmation from them either and have read that sometimes they don't send them out, but if you call they will have your order and it can be confirmed that way. I will give it a few more days and if I still don't have a confirmation I will call them.

I also read on another disboard that you have to be present when the beer/wine is delivered so they can verify that you are over 21.

I emailed them first to get what was available and the prices. Then I placed my order and put the item in the comments. Also, then I faxed them a copy of my driver's license so they could show I was over 21. Then they delivered the order to bell services who kept it there until we were in our room.

Thats's a wonderful idea making a copy of your drivers license & faxing it to them in case you are not there in time for the delivery. We will definitely be doing that just in case we are not at the resort in time for the delivery. Thanks so much for that idea!!!!

We ordered groceries AND beer/wine from GardenGrocer, and were not present when the delivery was made, and had no problem!

We requested a couple brands that where widely available here in the "northern US", but evidently, weren't as common in Florida. They (GardenGrocer) called our cell phone to tell us they couldn't find the wine, and gave us several choices in our original price range and we choose something else we were familiar with.

Our delivery arrived while we were out--we had a message on our phone from guest services, and DH went down to get the food and such (cold stuff was still very cold!). We'd tipped on the bill (they did call to give us the beer/wine total and get authorization for that), and all seemed to work VERY well!

You could try Bass or Dos Equis.
