My family is having dinner at Ohana at 7:30pm. The Magic Kingdom closes at 10:00pm. What is the best way to get back to the Fort?

Options 1 and 2 are best, however there is an Option 3. Take the Monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then take the bus back to FW.

Not aware of a bus to Fort. Are you sure? Have you taken it?
So you are saying there is no longer bus transportation to and / or from the TTC and FW?
When was that stopped?
Sorry to add onto the thread but having never been to the fort I'm confused now as to how we get around. Is there a bus to Epcot/HS/AK? I'm assuming the way to MK is by boat.
It's very simple.
The key is the internal bus system. There are clearly marked bus stops along the road, if it's not at the end of your loop, it's close by. Buses go two directions:
1. Settlement where you can get the boat to MK, the boat to Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge, the restaurant, bar and HDDR, trading post and beach. If you take the boat to the Contemporary, you can take the monorail to the other resorts on the monorail line, or the TTC, where you can switch to the Epcot line. That's the longer "scenic" route. But that boat gives you access to more resorts restaurants and recreation. (no pool hopping though)
2. Outpost which is the "front" of the resort with check-in and the bus depot for transportation outside of the fort. That's where you catch a bus to theme parks, water parks and DTD.
In the middle of the bus routes is the Meadows Recreation Area with the main pool, trading post, Chip n Dale campfire and sing-along and nightly movie. That's where the Bike Barn is to rent bikes, canoes and other recreation equipment.
You'll need to learn which direction (Settlement or Outpost) to take the bus to go to the Meadows.
There's never a reason to go to the TTC other than the monorail switch I mentioned above.
Thanks, I knew I could count on you guys for the info I needed.
Concerns I have are...
How late does the Monorail run?
How late does the boats run?
I was thinking if we could time it right we could be on the boat to the Magic Kingdom during fireworks which would be kind of neat. (except for the crowds)
The monorails between parks and boat from MK stay open at least an hour after park closing, even EMH.
The ones between resorts run till midnight.
You will never be left stranded. If everything happened to be stopped call FW desk they will send a vehicle to get you.
Relax!
You will be just fine.
And please remember, all you have to do is ask a cast member for help.
