We're 52 days away from our first stay at the Fort. Can anyone fill us in on how transportation within the fort works and the best way to get to the various parks from the campground?

I believe the internal busses at FW are color coded now, and each color serves a particular area of loops and destinations. As for getting to the parks, best way to MK is a ferry from the Settlement Depot, and to all other parks, hop on a bus. I do know that when you check in you'll receive the Gazette, which will have all sorts of info for your stay, including the bus routes and info on getting to the parks.

We always take the boat to the MK and boat then montirail to Epcot. Every other place we drove our van. With AAA parking pass you get to park up front next to handicap. First trip we brought bikes to get from loop 1500 to marina, second trip we rented a golf cart. Have fun. :cheer2: :cool1: :yay: princess:

We just got home Sunday from our first trip to the fort. Already planning the next one; it was so much fun.

Like LegoMom said the busses only in the Fort are colored-coded: orange, yellow, and purple. These are for three sections of the campground.

At the front of the fort is the outpost which you can catch another bus to anywhere in Disney. Just take orange, yellow, or purple to the outpost, then get off and wait for the bus for where you're going.

At the back of the fort is the settlement. Here you can catch a boat to MK or catch a direct bus to MGM. This is the quickest way to these two parks. This is also where Pioneer Hall and Trails End are.

The fort rules state no driving autos unless you're going out or returning to the campground. Good rule with all the kids, bikes, and golf carts. We did the bikes and it was fine. I'd love to have had a golf cart but at $44 a day!!, we just couldn't see the cost since we were at the parks the majority of the time.

Have a great time. We can't wait to go back!! :thumbsup2

I went to FW last Dec. Color coded buses were very efficient and on time (every 10 min.) for our internal transportation. Outside the fort, can't say since we have our own car, but many people used the boat at the marina to go to MK. Best advice I can give you is to enjoy FW as much as you can since it is a very relaxing and beautiful place. We rented bikes the first day to get familiar with the place and it was the best. CM are very friendly and attentive. Even thou the fort was packed (late Dec.) it was very quiet and private.

Hope this help
