Can anyone recommend a good resource for first timers on transportation options using Disney transport?

I'm nervous about being lost and missing a reservation or something as a result. It seems like it should be simple enough and I was feeling pretty comfortable until I started trying to finalize the nitty gritty details (now that I'm less than a week out! yah!)

For example, getting to 'Ohana from MK. I planned 'Ohana for an MK night because I read you can simply take a boat over. OK - sounds good.

So where do I go to get on this boat? I have no idea! Is it just outside the park entrance? Is it some distance? Is there ample signage so it will just be obvious to me when I'm there?

Thanks for any help! I'm getting pumped! :cool1:

There are plenty of signs to direct you outside the park. If in doubt, ask a cast member.

Try looking on Bing Maps before you go. "Road" will show you where everything is (with labels) if you start clicking on the parks.

If you do Birds Eye, you can really see everything in detail from another view.

A rule of thumb I use is to allow 1.5 hours travel time if going to a dining reservation from my resort. If I'm in MK and heading to a monorail loop resort for ADR's I leave an hour. It may seem like too much but it's surprising how long it can take!

You can also take the monorail from MK to 'Ohana. It's your preference from the MK.

As you exit the MK the boat dock is directly ahead of you. You'll see signage above the docks indicating Grand Floridian/Polynesian (where 'Ohana is located). The boat will go to the GF first, then the Poly.

If you choose the monorail, the ramps are to the right as you exit the MK. One ramp will be towards the Resort monorail; the Poly will be the third stop (after the Contemporary and the TTC).

Never hesitate to ask a CM or even other guests. If you are at the dock and find yourself confused, just ask other visitors in the queues where they are headed since you now they are in the correct line.

Just remember that some forms of transportation are off-limits to wheelchairs and ECVs. It isn't posted anywhere and it was horrible seeing an elderly couple one day with an ECV waiting at the Poly dock for a good 20 minutes before the boat came and told them they had to backtrack and take the monorail or ferry.

Head on over to the Transportation Board, here on the DIS. Lots of friendly people ready and willing to give you all the info you could possibly need. Just give us where you want to get to, from where, and you'll have plenty of ideas given to you!!!

The boat dock is quite easy to find, just pay attention to the signage. There is one dock for the Poly/Grand Floridian, and one dock for Fort Wilderness/Wilderness lodge and one dock for the TTC. They are close to the main gate and well labeled.

For a general idea on the transportation options, I bookmarked Our Laughing Place's transportation wizard on my phone. Actually, I found it helpful enough to pay for the app (and I NEVER pay for apps if I can help it!).

It gives you the different options to get to and from wherever, plus the estimated travel time. It doesn't get as specific as where the dock is or anything like that, but as others have said, all the CMs are happy to help and I've learned that if I don't know what I'm doing, it's better to ask than stress about it!

Have fun!

.first off.. Relax.. its vacation. you will never see everything in one trip Like everyone else said there is plenty of signs to tell you what is what. An where everything goes. We ride the boats just to ride them from one dock to antoher. Just relaxing to us. If you have any concerns ask a CM they will more then gladly help you.
Enjoy
