Getting AP before EMH

Need a little help here and hoping someone can assist. We prepurchased 5 day park hoppers. After considering our touring style and upcoming vacation plans, we think upgrading to APs would be our best choice. I'm pretty sure Disney will apply the cost of the 5day hopper to the AP, but I'd like to verify that. My bigger problem is described in the next paragraph.

We will be arriving on WDW property on a Saturday night after visiting relatives for two days on two different coasts of FL. My young ones will be tired. First thing Sunday morning, we are hoping to do EMH at MK before our 9:05 CRT breakfast. Do the ticket windows at MK open before 8am on EMH days? I don't want to eat up any EMH time by standing in line at a ticket window.

In years past, I thought there was a ticket location in DTD Marketplace where AP vouchers could be exchanged for passes. Is there a location in DTD where I can get the APs? I would do this the night before.

It would be a lot more convenient if the resorts could issue the APs, but since that is not the case, I'm open to any suggestions that could make this easier! Thanks in advance to any help you can provide! :)

There are two Guest Relations offices at DTD. One is in the Marketplace near the new Once Upon A Toy store and the other is in West Side.

Both are open until at least 11:00 pm. They can handle your upgrade to AP there. And yes, you will get full dollar credit for what you paid for the unused 5 day PH's.

Golden Oldie...Thank you for the information! Would you happen to know if DH must be there in person or can I purchase an AP for him? I would assume he would have to show his DL when he first uses the pass?

DH must be there. Both of you will need your driver's license as well.

By the way, noticed your from Lehigh.....I'm from Stroudsburg.!!

I was wondering this too. So if MulanMom goes to DD on Saturday night, will her AP starting date be Saturday's date or Sunday's date? This is important to me because I want to plan my 2004 trip to end by a certain date and I don't want to "waste" a day where I can't actually enter the parks.

Also, is this the only option? Does that mean the windows at the parks themselves don't open early on EMH mornings?

Brenda

The starting date will be Saturday's date.

The Guest Services window will probably be open early on EMH. The question is, will you want to wait in line during that time, or enjoy the rides ;)?

In previous trips, we've always gotten our passes Saturday night, just to aviod the sunday morning crowds at the ticket window.

Liv2Cdworld...Hi! Small world...seems quite a few DISers are from Eastern PA, whether it be NE, E or SE!!! Nice to meet you!

Although I may burn a day off, I, too, prefer the convenience of not having to deal with crowds at the ticket booth in the AM. I want to experience EMH, primarily to see if it will be worth it to wake up early for other MK EMHs or just go early on non-EMH days. In a few days, I'll find out!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :)

MulanMom,

Have fun! I still need to wait til May :(.

Come on MAY!!!!

I am not sure if this is correct, could someone confirm? Can't you enter the park using your 5 day park hopper and then upgrade it later in the day when you need a break. I believe since the AP would start on the same day you used the Park hopper to enter, you would still get full credit of your park hopper price.

That is correct. If you upgrade within 7 days of first use, you will receive full value of your ticket.

clkelley and Colestat...Thank you for the great idea! I would much prefer not going to DTD on a Saturday night. Upgrading to an AP on the way out of MK on Sunday sounds much, much better. I actually leave in a few hours...glad I decided to check the boards one last time!!!:)

Had a great trip and finally have a chance to post how I handled our dilemma.

Well, I chickened out a bit.;) I decided to wake up early, get the first bus from OKW to MK and chance the Guest Relations window being open early, which they were. There was no line and after upgrading our passes to APs, we were still first in line at one of the turnstiles for the 8am opening of the park. BTW, getting to MK early for EMH was definitely worth it for the Fantasyland rides.

One suggestion I would make to anyone upgrading is to bring along your ticket receipt and *check it* before the transaction is processed. The CM who processed our tickets stated he was able to do so directly from the tickets themselves so I never bothered to take out the receipt. When he mentioned the amount of credit, I thought the amount was a little off but assumed I wasn't fully awake and that I must've been incorrect. I never checked it against our receipt until later in the day. Some snafu with processing resulted in $113 being owed to us, which we handled with guest relations at City Hall later in the day.

Glad it worked out for you. GR at the parks is always open by 8:00 am (sometimes even earlier on EMH day as you found out).

So happy you realized the error and got it corrected. You almost lost half a PHP in the exchange.
