Getting AB at POR

I wonder how my chances of getting into AB at POR will be this week. We arrive on the 16th and probably will get there at noon. We are a party of four, but my first request was any room at AB, then I listed the mansion numbers. Oh well, I will see.

My sister and I were at POR for 6 nights in mid November and we got not only AB but the exact building I requested! I was also there by noon...

It will depend on how full the resort is. The one time I reqeusted an AB room, I did not receive it. The CM at the front desk said the resort was booked solid and that they were holding the AB rooms for families of 5. We had only 3 people so they put us in Mansions.

I am the poster child on the issue of being denied AB. I tried on two different trips and was denied both times. I was traveling solo so I certainly didn't need the trundle bed, and the CMs were firm that I had to have mansions and can't be switched. Funny thing is, on both trips, I got almost the same room in the very farthest parking-lot-view back corner of mansion Parterre Place. Horrible location, hated it back in that lonely corner. And to get it twice. Sigh.

Yet here on the DIS, you read countless posts of people get AB with no problem whatsoever.

I admit I won't stay at POR anymore because I can't get AB, and I can't even seem to get a different mansion except Parterre Place. Rather see a new location at another resort. Plenty of other places to stay if I return to Disney.

We are a family of five so we did stay in AB, however, there were many families of four in that section. Good luck!

I knew we would get AB because we have 6 people, but the people beside us had 4. I requested buildings 14-18 and was very pleased to receive building 14 on the first floor. Good Luck!

I want to add that you should be careful what you wish for. My last stay at POR was this past October, and we did get a room in the Alligator Bayou section. But I think it was the worst possible room location at the resort. We were in building 34, and it is way away from everything. The only good thing about that building is that there is a bus stop right behind it. That's it.

And to add insult to injury the slide in the main pool was closed for maintainace, and we were told we should just walk to POFQ and use their slide. Someone looked it up for me on Google Earth, and that is almost a mile walk, one way.

I would have been much happier in a Mansion building. Sometimes getting what you request is not a good thing.
