How can I get a picture of the Disney welcome signs on the roads? (The ones when you first enter the property) I want one so bad, but I know we can't stop to take one.

1) get a vehicle with a sun/moon roof
2) get a high-quality, hi-def video camera
3) get a high-quality video tripod
4) attach camera to tripod
5) open sun/moon roof
6) set up tripod in vehicle so camera is positioned outside the vehicle through the sun/moon roof
7) align camera to face front (direction of travel)
8) turn on the camera as you leave the interstate and ensure it is recording
9) leave camera on until you arrive at your parking lot
10) disassemble the camera/tripod rig and be sure to close your sun/moon roof
11) enjoy your day in the park
12) return to hotel
13) upload video to personal computer
14) obtain high-quality video processing software
15) fast forward to the point in the video where signs are clearly visible and neatly framed
16) do a frame capture and save to .jpg picture
17) post the .jpg picture to your blog, personal website, and/or DISBoards

...or you could just open up Google Earth and copy this Street View image...

I've simply taken them through the windshield while we are driving. Some turn out better than others.

That was, by far, the most complete answer to a simple question that I've ever seen on the DIS (that didn't involve a Robo map). Well done! :thumbsup2

:earsboy:

Thanks for sharing some tips. I might try using my iPhone to take one next May when I go.:woohoo:

Slow down as slow as you want, people will go around you.... We have taken pictures thru the windshield going about 5-10 mph and they turn out real well

Good luck

Just be sure to clean your windshield before heading out that day.

I was going to suggest just doing a quick search for someone else's pictures of the sign, because almost certainly it will be better than what the average person can get. it's like taking pictures on a ride; surely someone else has gotten better pictures before, and you can snag that for your personal album and let everyone on your ride be in peace without flash photography. And you can have a picture of the sign without being a traffic hazard.

While people might indeed go around you, it's not like they are going to be HAPPY about you ignoring the "no stopping no slowing" signs. And it's always possible they will be so busy trying to take their own picture that they'll run right into someone else slowing down! What a joyous way to start a Disney vacation!

also says Strictly Enforced: and it is..
totally agree how irresponsible and let sheriff, FHP, or WDW Security see this stunt

set phone camera to burst shot and start clicking as you approach, you'll get at least one good shot.. also galaxy phones have a new best shot feature that will capture multiple shots and grab best one..

I like the Google Earth idea! :thumbsup2

If you're taking DME, try to sit in the front seat, or as close to the front as you can possibly get.

Another idea, would be to go to DTD Hotel Plaza Blvd., go to the end where the road starts, and take a picture from there, or across the street at Crossroads. If you don't have a car it is a 10-15 minute walk from DTD, along winding sidewalks.

Has anyone ever seen enforcement of the "no stopping" signs? In all my travels not once have I ever witnessed it.

We go to the parks once a week ( AP plus my husband works at DHS) and have never seen actual police but we have seen plenty of accidents... so please don't slow down just to take the picture, you have drivers that don't know the area, guests that are speeding to get to the parks, CM that have to get to work...

And don't forget to pray the person driving behind you is not distracted, so they don't hit you.:sad2:

That has to be about the worst advice I have ever seen given out. Please do not follow it! You have no way of knowing if the person behind you (or the drivers behind them) are paying attention to driving. And not snapping pics themselves.

Really....

BAD....

Advice....

Seriously, do not follow that advice.

Be safe out there.

Everyone is just trying to get a picture of the sign while driving. What could go wrong? ;)
