Getting a pedicure in the winter

I only get them in the summer- but we are headed to CA on Saturday and it is looking like flip flop weather.

Unfortunately, it is only in the 20's here. So do I just wear flip flops and deal with having cold feet till I get home? How do you keep your feet warm without ruining the pedi?!

I just got a mani & pedi and wore shoes and sox there, changed into flip-flops, then wore them home. I wouldn't wear shoes for several hours after a pedi.

My feet are so dry that I think I actually get more pedicures in winter than in summer. I go to a place where I can park right outside so my feet only have to be cold for a few minutes. But yes, I wear flip flops and pretty much just suck it up.

I've seen a few ladies in sandals or flip flops scurry back to their cars in the snow post-pedi! Alternately, you cou ask for a shellac pedicure.

I brave it and wear flip flops.

I had one done Monday then had to go pick up the ham at honeybaked.
The line was out the door and there I am with my Winter coat , santa hat and flip flops. It was 20 degrees and the snow was flying.
I got some looks but didnt want to mess up my pedi.

That's what I do. It gets cold here in the winter, but we don't drive around when it's icy or snowy. But I have left the salon and walked around in flip-flops in cold rain and thunderstorms. I just turn my car heater on high and try to drive home fast.

Getting one tomorrow and I will be wearing flip flops afterwards. But I'm in Alabama and it is not as cold as it is in Pennsylvania. Like a pp said I wouldn't wear shoes for a few hours after a polish.

I don't know where you are headed to in Ca, but you are right, it is rather warm this week in L.A.

Two words ... GEL. POLISH.

Yes, it's a little more expensive than a regular pedi, but your toes will be completely rock solid dry before you even get up. And they won't chip for at least 10 days. The stuff I have on my toes I did 2 weeks ago, and it only needs to be redone because there's growth showing.

I'm in NYC and all of the women in our office, me included, get pedicures all winter and normally wear boots (esp UGGS since they are wide & round at toes) or flat loafers. After normal drying time, before you leave the salon the nail technician will spray that drying spray or oil on your toes and then wrap them in saran wrap which will prevent smudging. Then put on socks and boots (or loafers), and you're good to go.

I'd probably wear socks and shoes there, then after the pedicure just wear flip flops and be cold i guess I've never had a pedi in the winter, but that's probably what I'd do!

I just wear flip flops and try not to get them on days where there is snow on the ground. I got one Saturday and it was chilly and raining, my feet were wet and they were freezing. I just cranked the heat up in the car till I got home. I do make sure I have no other errands to run after and try to park as close to the door as possible

That's what I do. I'm addicted to pedi's and get one about every month year round!

at my salon whenever you are done drying them they will put a plastic baggie over your toes then slide your sock and shoe back on.

I dunno, I can smudge nail polish an hour after it's "dry". The gel stuff is the only stuff I trust (10 minutes total including drying time, and no smudges), and I can do that at home now.

I've done both and while they each work equally well and both last about the same amount of time, the main difference is the cost. With a regular pedi, I've never had one smudge once they've done the dry coating and Saran Wrap on the toes.

Love my pedis!!! I schedule my appointment for late in the day so I can wear my flip flops to and from the salon - and then head right home! My next one is next Friday - heading to Old Key West on Sunday!!!! Yipee!
