Getting a little nervous

I've never taken DS on vacation just the two of us before. Prior to this we've gone with my mom or with friends. And this is the biggest vacation we've ever taken, the first time flying instead of driving. I'm really hoping that logistically I can manage everything without you know losing a piece of luggage, a straying child, lol.

Really my DS is normally a great traveller, and for a kid who can be very rigid about routines at home he accepts changes in stride when we're away, loves hotel rooms. But he's still an unpredictable 3.5 year old. We went to Hershey Park last year and he had a blast. He went on tons of rides and just threw himself into the experience. We went to Sesame Place a couple of months later and he refused to go on half the rides and whined for two days. Granted he happened to be going through a particularly nasty phase at the time but I'm just so hoping that I get the happy willing to try things kid this time. He seems very excited about our trip. He told me he wants to ride the flying elephants and the he loves Minnie and wants to give her a kiss.

I'm really excited about everything but it just suddenly hit me that we'll be in WDW in a week and I suddenly got really nervous. (And don't even let me go into his asthma that's been acting up and my eczema that's flaring and the hives I currently have from the reaction to the antihistamine I needed after the allergic reaction to the new steroid.....)

Everything will be great. Just remember he is a little one and will get cranky at some time as he will get tired even during the plane ride. Try to make sure you have a nap time for him, whether it be in the room or a quiet place in the park. Part of your hives may be from your stressing out. It is quiet apparent that you are.. Just be prepared for any kind of illness, make sure you have his meds with you and your meds as well. Then take a deep breath and enjoy your time at the World. You will have so many memories to make. :thumbsup2 :sunny: pixiedust:

Thanks. I think it's a combination of my DS being sick 5 times in the last few months and his asthma really flaring, me going through stuff too and I keep thinking, please not while we're at WDW. I did order a portable nebulizer just to be able to take on our trip. And then I worry about things like "Must not lose kid, must not lose kid", lol. But mostly I am really excited. I hope he has a good time. Today when I dropped him off at preschool the first thing he did was go and tell his teacher that he's going to meet Minnie Mouse at her house and give her a kiss. :)

My sister and I went on a girls trip in June. Her daughter ended up getting strep so I was in Disney world, alone with my 2 dd's (3 & 7). I freaked a little and worried about getting on the bus, carrying our food etc......... I have to say that it was the best time of my life. People are very helpful. The bus will wait if you have to get a stroller on. These are the best memories for me. I just walked around and watched my girls! It was the most relaxed that we have ever been on a vacation, because it had to be! Enjoy.

Ok, you will be fine. You didn't say where you will be staying, but the disney hotel have a shuttle so that if for any reason you or your DS need to see a doctor you call the front desk they will let you know when the shuttle will pick you up and you go to a pretty good doc in the box(urgent care) and then the shuttle runs you by to pick up any prescription that you might need. That being said, hopefully you will not need that service. For your eczema, my son uses 2% hydrocordisone creme on the places and vaseline. The doctor recommeded it and it has cleared things up 99%. The key is keeping things moist, because the cold weather is so tough.
You will be fine with your son. It is very empowering to travel by yourself. Relax, and enjoy. :thumbsup2

Let your DS set the pace and you will have a blast. Enjoy this great time you will have together.
