Getting a kid to meet up with a parent outside MK

My 12 year old niece is joining my family for our trip next week. She will be leaving the Magic Kingdom around 4pm to meet up with her mom and head back to the airport. What’s the best way for her and her mom to meet? I understand Mom can’t drive her car to the MK. So will Mom either have to pay to park at the T&TC and take the monorail or ferry to meet her right outside the gate? Or will I have to escort my niece on the monorail or ferry back to the T&TC to meet her mom in the passenger pick up area (and hopefully avoid the parking fee)? Are there any other ideas or options? Could she use a Minnie van by herself at that age? Thanks.

There are no Minnie Vans, so that wouldn't be an option. Best would probably be for someone to go with her to the TTC and meet there.

Since your niece is so young, an adult should be with her at all times to be sure she gets safely to her mom, either by meeting at the TTC or a designated spot outside the gates of MK.

Someone 14 or older needs to be with her. Her mother might be able to eat at one of the monorail resorts so she can park there. She can take the monorail, ferry, or walk over to Magic Kingdom, so you aren’t missing out on as much park time. Or you could all plan to meet up for an early dinner/late lunch at a monorail resort, if you think your family might want a break from the park.

We did something very similar about 2 weeks ago. Walk her over to CR and have mom meet you there...she'll just need to tell guard she's picking someone up.

There should be no parking fee at any park for drop off / pickup. Just tell the booth attendant, she will tell you which sign to follow.

You should be prepared to escort your niece to the point she can actually see her mom, if not all the way to the car.

As it is a pickup, I’d recommend mom stay in / with car.

I think she will be directed to the area for “Bus / Taxi”. Not in the large (and farther away) parking lot.

Personally I would escort the child to meet Mom at the pick up area at TTC. Mom will not have to pay to park.

Allow extra time (an earlier pickup) in case you need to do a plan B. Notably if a resort parking guard does not let DN's mother drive in there without a restaurant reservation.

A sendoff meal will be tricky. DN's mom needs to have the car in gear at least 2-1/2 hours before flight time.

If she has been with you all week ? Won’t she have luggage ? Maybe I misread just a thought

She won’t have luggage with her. She and her mom are staying off site while my immediate family stays on site. Her mom is working remotely at the hotel while she hangs out with us during the day at the parks.

thanks for all the replies. I’ll probably have to escort her to the T&TC. Does mom go through the main parking entrance or is there a separate area for guest pickup and drop off?
