Does anyone know if this is possible??:confused3

We just bought into DVC today :cool1: so we will be getting AP's but I was hoping to hold off buying them until we got down there.

I'm not sure that even if I bought the AP's now that I'd have time to get the DDE card before we left anyhow (we'll arrive 9/21).

So, back to the original question, is it possible to buy the card & use it while we are there in Sept?

Thanks so much!

I bought mine shortly before one trip--the whole transaction was done by phone, and then I was told I could pick it up at Guest Services at EPCOT, which is what I did.

So actually, I don't see why you couldn't buy it via cell phone from the EPCOT parking lot, if you had to, and then walk over and pick it up. I guess it would depend on how long it takes them to notify the people at the park. I'd call and ask.

it has to be picked up after 5 pm at Epcot's guest relations. but yes, you can do it while on site, just be aware that the DDE office keeps regular business hours.

If you purchase an AP on site, and do not have the voucher in advance, it is possible to get a temporary DDE card. Also this works if there is very little lead time between your ordering the card and your arrival.

1. Call the DDE office at 407-566-5858 between 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday (except Holidays) and give them your name, the string of letters and numbers on the bottom of the pass (starting with a "W") and your credit card information. If you are a Florida Resient and not an AP holder they will ask for your Florida Driver's license (or State ID) number.

2. Starting at 5:30pm that day, and any time it is open, you can go to the Guest Relations Window outside Epcot's Main Entrance (On your right as you face Spaceship Earth) with a photo ID and you will be given an envelope.

3. The envelope will have in it a temporary card which expires 30 days from the date of the request and a sheet of paper listing all locations which currently accept the card.

4. The plastic embossed card whould arrive at your home within a month. The expiration date on the embossed card will be either the last day of the current month in the next year, or if you ordered it late enough in the month it will be the last day of the following month the next year.

Also, if you purchase it between the first and about the 7th of a month it will expire the next year on the last day of the same month. If your purchase is after the 10th, the expiration will be the last day of the following month the next year. If you order it between the 7th and 10th is anybody's guess.

Wow! Thanks Lonegungirl & bradk for the answers. :yay:

Thanks very much Cheshire Figment, I appreciate all the details, this is fantastic! :flower3:

As previous poster stated, you can purchase while there. Just keep in mind the days and hrs of the DDE office. For example, if you arrive too late Friday or during the weekend, you will not be able to then place order and get card until Monday at Guest Relations.

We already had a card but had forgotten it...and when we inquired, we could not get it replaced until the following Monday late afternoon. The $25 replacement cost did not justify only getting to use it for a couple of days.

I ordered a new one for our upcoming trip--about 3 1/2 weeks in advance and was told that the card would be available for pickup at Guest Relations in Epcot. I wish there were more pickup places since I had not planned on going to that park that day....was hoping to get in the mail.

For our trip this past June, AP rates came out exactly 3 weeks before our arrival. I called to order my tickets then immediately called DDE to order our card. I was told it would take about 4 - 6 weeks to process but that I would be able to pick up a temp. card on arrival. Well, no problem because our card arrived in the mail 15 days after I ordered it.:yay:
