I was thinking about getting a cab from WL to BC because it would be faster and easier than taking Disney Transportation.

How does one go about doing this?

Any idea how much this might cost me?

Go to the WL main front entrance breezeway and there will likely be cabs waiting for fares.

If no cabs are there, ask a CM attendant to call for one.

$20-$40, plus tip (one-way)

There's usually cabs waiting right outside the door. If not, Bell Services will call one for you. Depending on the weather, you can get a cab within moments or may have to wait if it's raining really hard.

I'd budget about $15 with tip.

How about getting a cab between the parks? Say, going from DHS to EPCOT? Is that possible, and where would I find them?

Regarding costs...

We took a cab from Downtown Disney to the Magic Kingdom after La Nouba one evening, because it was our last night that vacation and MK was closing soon. We wanted one more ride on Splash or BTMRR. The cost with tip was $20. I don't think WL to BC would be much different in terms of time or distance.

Last Wednesday we took a cab from BW to the Contemporary and the ride was 15.00 with tip.

Why?

These two parsk are only a short walk away from each other. About 15-20minutes, depending on your pace. If you are going tothe second park ofr an ADR, I'd allow extra time - but the walk is petty direct and short. These are the only two parks you can walk between, but it makes hopping easy.

If you don't want to walk, then you can take the free shuttle boat. The boat will take more like 20 minutes, maybe longer if your timing is off. The boat makes a few stops along the way, so you could also walk partway and take the boat partway.

You just leave via the back exit of Epcot, between GB and France. It's a pretty area.

Beyond that, in this case, taking a taxi would actually most likely take you longer, as a taxi woudl have to drive the long way around, and would not drop you off directly at the gate. It will probably take you more like 10-15 min to walk from the IG gate to the taxi drop if you walk quickly. The taxi could also drop you off at CR, but that still a 7-10 min walk to MK.

The other parks, well, Epcot to MK (or MK ot Epcot) there's a monorail. It dropps you off at the TTC, but a taxi will also drop you off and pick you up at teh TTC- or one of the resorts. Generally WDW transportaion is about the same as taking a taxi. Even at peak times of day, you usually can fit on the first monorail that arrives. (not many folks head to MK after Epcot closes; they head back ot their resorts.) Leaving MK, you can take either monorail line to the TTC, but the express is usually faster, since it's direct. (You can also take the large ferry boat to the TTC, but it's going to be the slowest of the three.)

Other hops are done via bus. In those cases, a taxi will most likely be a bit faster, but it depends on the timing of the bus. You can get transportation to any park from the TTC, but you can also go directly between the rest of the parks via bus. The only exception is DTD. To get to DTD, you must first go to a resort or the TTC - so a taxi would be quite a bit faster.

If you want to take a taxi formthe parks, just ask or look for signage near the resort bus area. Usually the taxi stand is kind of off to the side of the park exit. Somewhere kind of beyond the bus/tram area.

OP is correct though - one time we usually take a taxi is going between resorts.

ok, bear with me. I am a little slow today. Are you saying that there is a boat between DHS and EPCOT?? I thought that boat went to resorts only?

It will cost more if you have a large party and need one of the vans. I don't know how much, but once that happened to us.

Robo was gently poking fun at the double post. Two posts saying almost the same thing, $15 each post. $15 + $15 = $30. :)

There is a boat between DHS and Epcot. It makes three stops along the way at resorts. End-to-end it's about 25 or 30 minutes.

There is also a walkway between DHS and Epcot. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to walk.

thanks for the info!!! You learn something new everyday on the dis. We are going DHS to EPCOT one day for an evening ADR. We will make use of one or the other, depending on how our feet feel at that point!

Current taxi fare in the Orlando area is $2.20 for the first 1/4 mile and then 55¢ for each additional 1/4 mile (or 80 seconds of waiting time). In addition, there is a $0.50 surcharge on all rides (except the surcharge is $1.00 to or from the airport).

In addition, I was recently reading a frequent traveler magazine and they did a survey of taxi fares in the US and Orlando was the 5th highest fares in the country.

Unless it's changed since I was a Bell Cap at the WL, cabs were not staged there. We called one in from the taxi staging area at TTC. It would be there in five minutes or less.

A few years ago I did a Grand gathering, and we needed the van-taxis. We never paid more for them. I have also been a small party in a van-taxi (a sedan would have been fine), and never charged more.

In my opinion, the cabs at Disney were great. Much faster than the bus. For our ADR's we took cabs and never paid more than $17, including tip.

It's not just your opinion, it's a fact that taxis are faster. But if people, for whatever reason, are not willing to spend some money or have drivin their own car to WDW, there is only one choice left.
